Twenty-five years in the ER could become a resume for despair, but for bestselling author Dr. Robert D. Lesslie it's a foundation for inspiring stories of everyday "angels"--friends, nurses, doctors, patients, even strangers who offer love, help, and support in the midst of trouble.
"The ER is a difficult and challenging place to be. Yet the same pressures and stresses that make this place so challenging also provide an opportunity to experience some of life's greatest wonders and mysteries." Dr. Lesslie illuminates messages of hope while sharing fast-paced, captivating stories about
- discovering lessons from the ER frontline
- watching everyday miracles unfold
- holding onto faith during tragedy and triumph
- embracing the healing balm of hope
For anyone who enjoys true stories of the wonders of the human spirit, this immensely popular book is a reminder that hope can turn emergencies into opportunities and trials into demonstrations of God's grace.
--Richard Thomas, film, television, and stage actor, "John-Boy" on The Waltons and host of It's a Miracle
--Bobby Jones, co-founder 2XSALT, four-time NBA All-Star, and member of the 1983 World Champion Philadelphia 76ers
"In an age when patients are viewed as social security numbers, Dr. Lesslie recovers the fading image of a caring doctor for whom the patient is center stage. We are left with the impression that angels belong to our lives, both in and out of emergency rooms. That is a conviction worth holding, and this is a book worth reading and rereading...If I ever land in an emergency room, I hope Dr. Lesslie is there waiting for me."

And I was so excited to read it. Maybe that's something I should look at in myself--as I was expecting more of the supernatural and actual angels (maybe in disguise) and was not happy to read about stories that are just about regular people working in a hospital and demonstrating the fruit of the spirit (because they are!). But even if that is the case the description on this product is a little misleading, and I found that the verses the author attached to each story were hard for me to associate with the story. The stories themselves were well written, if a little discouraging.

If you ever worked in the ER you will love to relive some of the experiences. Some are funny and some are sad. Great book.

I thought this book would offer that. I thought it would give examples of people triumphing through tragedy. I didnt even finish this book. It is so depressing, I have too many examples of people failing in life, I do not need anymore. Wouldnt recommend this book to anyone! Blah!!!
Ruth5 Stars Out Of 5Re-read w.o. preconceived thoughts?January 17, 2011RuthQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I wrote a review for the other volume - but these reviews did me in! True, we hear "angels" and think of some winged being...Well, these folks weren't that kind of angels. But to say the accounts were "JUST ORDINARY ER stories"! Wow! Come on, folks, the miracles were way beyond any angels' (so-called) capabilities. God working through the people in the ER and in His infinite wisdom NOT always giving the grand outcome, from our perspective, I sure do consider these EXTRAordinary stories. (By the way, angels don't have wings, did y'all know that? Check it out!)
Maryrose5 Stars Out Of 5July 22, 2010MaryroseLike many other people, I did expect something different, but I still give it 5 stars because Dr. Lesslie does have heart for Christ and he was obviously spirit led to have written the book and so many of us Christians are reading it. You have to admit, the stories do touch your heart and you don't forget them.
