Publisher's Description

Angels eagerly watch over Ann Fletcher's every move. She just doesn't know it yet.

Ann Fletcher has returned to Charleston to see her younger sister Sarah receive her master's degree. But she soon finds herself riding in the back of an ambulance, watching helplessly as Sarah fights for her life. As they race to the hospital, Sarah talks to someone who is not there...and hums a melody Ann has never heard before.

That unfamiliar, unearthly beautiful melody keeps finding Ann--first in the hospital chapel, then in her dreams, and finally in Sarah's empty house.

Two neighbors have a profound effect on Ann. Ethan McKinney lends her a shoulder to lean on. And as a carpenter, he volunteers to help Ann get the Fletcher family home into shape for selling. His strong presence is a pleasing distraction. Ann's twelve-year-old neighbor, Keith, has Down Syndrome and the guile to believe he can actually see and hear angels. In fact, he insists they are looking out for her in ways she's never imagined.

God begins to reveal himself to Ann--both in her newfound friends and through supernatural events. As she discovers the very real presence of angels around her, will she finally open her heart to receive God's healing love?

Publisher's Weekly

Women of Faith speaker Walsh (Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God) and novelist Cushman (Leaving Yesterday) have co-authored a yarn about a young woman's unawareness of angels surrounding her every move. Annie Fletcher has returned home to Charleston, S.C., from her busy life as a New York designer to celebrate her younger sister Sarah's graduation when Sarah dies in an auto accident. Distraught and feeling more alone than ever, Annie begins to have dreams and hear music--angelic music--and does her level best to escape it. When her deceased sister's neighbors come calling, Annie gets even more uneasy as 12-year-old Keith, who has Down syndrome, starts talking about seeing angels all around. Troubled and scared, Annie fights memories of a painful childhood even as she battles present-day business adversaries and internally rebels against evidence in her life of invisible angelic protectors. Walsh is known for communicating with real depth in her nonfiction titles; sadly, this fictional offering isn't as riveting. Many of the story's angelic occurrences are more contrived than divine. This review was written for Angel Song - eBook.
I admit to hesitancy around purchasing this book. My reasons were that it would be easy for the topic of Angelic assistance to come across as subjective or cheesy even. I should have known better from this classy author. It was a page turner. I felt upbuilt and enlightened by the clever depiction of the struggle HUMANS are caught up in, between Christ's Kingdom and Lucifer' s pseudo kingdom in opposition. I borrowed the author's approach, soon after finishing the book to witness to a loved one with some success! I've always found it difficult to approach the subject of Satan and his fight for our ownership. An absolute top read; entertaining, gripping, suspenseful and faith building. I really came to love and relate to the characters. Wish I could live there! Try it and see for yourself. Enjoy!

Review : Angel Song - Sheila Walsh & Kathryn Cushman - August 2010

For Anne Fletcher it has just been her and her younger sister Sarah for the past seven years after their Grandmother who raised them passed away. Arriving in her hometown of Charleston from New York , Anne was supposed to have the most amazing weekend and break from work as her sister Sarah was graduating- a weekend not to be forgotten . However when tragedy strikes , it becomes not only a weekend that won't ever be forgotten but also the weekend that became the start of a change in Anne's life. Coming back from their night out, they had a car crash and Sarah passed away. Now Anne must learn to live without her sister, her last living relative and family. However Anne, is finding it difficult and believes she is turning nuts as she keeps hearing the same song over and over again. Is Anne hallucinating or is the sound something related more to another H-word "heaven". Sarah's neighbours and friends Tammy and her son Keith and brother Ethan have been a rock for Anne during this time. Keith , a 12yr old with Down Syndrome's is convinced that what Anne is hearing is in fact the voice of Angels.

As the story progresses we see Anne caught in between two worlds and two guys. Her previous life in New York as a designer and the guy- a big flash Architect and her new life , the new Anne whose been touched by angels in Charleston and the hunky odd-jobber Ethan.

Will this be the time that God will finally allow Anne's heart to be opened and recieve the healing and forgiveness she has needed for such a long time?

New York and Charleston- Stand aside and be prepared for out with the old and in with the new Anne.

This story was both sad and heartwarming at the same time. After Ann Fletcher loses her sister, Sarah in an accident, she begins to be haunted by a tune that she hears. As Ann readies Sarah's home, the home they both grew up in, to be sold she meets a carpenter, and her neighbors, Tammy amd her son, Keith who has Down Syndrome. Keith draws pictures of Ann with angels in them. This disturbs her at first but then she begins to look forward to the pictures. Does the tune and the pictures have something to do with each other? Will she listen to the angels and open her heart to God? This story is lovely but it is a bit predictable. I didn't find that to be a bad thing. This book did cause me to think about angels and the role they may play in our lives. If you are a fan of christian fiction I think you will enjoy this book.

This heartwarming story of the life of Anne Fletcher. The tragedies that she's had to face from as early as childhood up to just recently has closed her off to her life's full potential. After losing her sister, she has to go back to her roots and face everything while trying to escape. The storyline gripped me from page one, reading about little Keith, her next door neighbor's down syndrome son and how he helps bring her back to life. Full of love, compassion and forgiveness. You don't want to miss this Women of Faith Book of the Year. It totally earned it!

Angel Song by Sheila Walsh & Kathryn Cushman.

The book is about a woman called Ann Fletcher. She is an interior designer, very career orientated, but returning home for her sister Sarah's graduation. They have no parents and she hasn't been home in many years. She has bad memories of her home life so has good reason to stay away. She doesn't get much time to enjoy her sister's company as tradgedy touches them. It is then that Ann discovers her sister had many friends, among them a boy who hears and sees angels. Ann begins to develop friendships with some of her sister's friends, but is frightened by their faith and concern for her. As she grows more comfortable with them she realises that she needs the comfort they offer.

I started this book a bit skeptical about the subject matter, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the direction the book took, not being to wishy washy about faith and not too pushy either. As a work of fiction it is easy to read and touching. I would have liked more focus on God, andn how to become a Christian too, as others who read the book who are not Christians might not know. The book assumes a knowledge of salvation on the part of the reader.
