Following her stepparents' arrest, Max moves in with Amelia Truesdale, an elderly neighbor. Soon strange things start happening on Amelia's farm--her tires are slashed and there is a break in at the house. Is someone trying to make Amelia leave? If she does, what will happen to Max? Then Max disappears at the same time as some money, and it's up to Jessie to prove her friend is not a thief! Recommended for ages 8 to 12.

Danger at Lakeside Farm is a well-written, faith-filled mystery thriller written by Patricia H. Rushford. I enjoyed how Rushford doesnt have perfect characters; this makes the story easier to relate to. Though the book is mostly about the exciting mystery, the author also includes thoughts in the narrative about Jessies relationship with Christ. My one critique would be that there are only 3 books out so far! The mystery has many moving parts which make the story very exciting but not too confusing. I look forward to reading more of her books.
