I got this after a friend's recommendation. She has younger kids then I do, so please keep that in mind (I have a 2nd and 4th grader).

I was thrilled with the prospect of not just reading about history, but having the potential of artsy projects to go along with it. I thought I'd be getting that with this program.

The reality is there are a lot of (very repetitious) coloring pages, but less in the way of crafty projects. The history material contained is really simplistic, and I normally end up reading the "teachers info page" to my kids along with their material so they can have a fuller understanding of what is being taught. On top of all this, in order to utilize the program, you have to disassemble the entire book and make copies for each student, which costs a pretty penny either in printer toner or at Staples. They have an E-book version too, but I feel this amounts to about the same thing.

The grade level listed is for 1st through 3rd. If they kept it down to just 1st, I wouldn't be so disappointed. The reading/understanding could be suitable for my 2nd grader, but I have to push her to color all the excess pages. So overall, it's a pain for all of us.

I also bought the pilgrims book, and it seems they have some other extras like recipes to make and such, so I'm going to reserve my judgement on the whole series until we try that book out. But this one is only barely tolerable. Your child will like it if they love to color.
