Ruth Reid is a CBA and ECPA best-selling author of the Heaven on Earth series. She's a full-time pharmacist who lives in Florida with her husband and three children. When attending Ferris State University School of Pharmacy in Big Rapids, Michigan, she lived on the outskirts of an Amish community and had several occasions to visit the Amish farms. Her interest grew into love as she saw the beauty in living a simple life.
Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Sweet StorySeptember 30, 2014Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4An Amish Miracle was a sweet, easy, and enjoyable read. All three stories take place in the same community and it was nice to get glimpses of the characters in each novella. All three stories are well-written, with interesting characters and situations. All three of the stories had events that the characters viewed as miraculous.
In Always in my Heart by Mary Ellis, I really liked the way Hope and Stephen related to each other and worked through their disagreements, showing forgiveness and grace. I also enjoyed seeing the way James fit into their family.
In Always His Providence by Ruth Reid, I really felt for Rosa and her situation. And watching Adam and Rosas relationship grow was fun. Rosas stubborn independence was frustrating at times, but I thought Adam balanced her nicely.
In Always Beautiful by Beth Wiseman, I enjoyed the various exchanges and relationship growth between the characters. Becky has very low self-esteem and has trouble seeing her worth as a person. Matt and Elam both admire her and wish to court her, even before she loses a lot of weight. It was intriguing to see how Becky viewed herself as opposed to how others viewed her.
Very enjoyable stories.
JCMorrowsAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5WOW! These anthologies are a GREAT idea!January 29, 2014JCMorrowsAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Not only do you get three stories in one, you get to see the writing of three different authors - which tells you whether you like all three authors and want to buy more of their books. In my case, the answer is "YES!" And I will be hunting up books I don't already have from these authors!
In the first story: Always in my Heart, we get to see the major differences between Amish marriages and Englisch marriages. What does the typical Englisch husband do when he finds out his wife has been hiding something from him for their entire marriage? Read the story to see what the typical Amish husband does. It's astonishing.
This is the first novel I've read by Mary Ellis and her writing is phenomenal. She does have an odd habit of using the Deutsch word for wife a lot instead of having her husband call her by name and this is the first book I've read where this was done but I don't know everything about every Amish community so maybe this is common in some of them_ Her writing is so wonderful, even with this small oddity, I could NOT put it down. GREAT Story! GREAT Writing! Read it!
The same is true of the second.
Ruth Reid's writing - also fantastic! She draws you right into the story and you can feel the character's emotions so clearly. It's so hard to let go of the story, that when it's over you almost want to cry.
This is the first book of hers I have read also and I can't WAIT to go hunt down more of hers!
In the second book we see a different character's story but in the same community. I LOVE when they do this! It's so much better than having to wait for the next book in the series to come out.
I didn't think the story of a lonely widow would appeal to me much but it really did. It was amazing. I found myself staying up far beyond my usual bedtime to read I haven't done that in a while.
I never could have imagined that Amish girls would have to deal with weight issues. Who could have guessed? But that is indeed the main conflict of the third story in this anthology.
Beth Wiseman handles the story beautifully. I found myself feeling Becky's pain as I read. And yet, I could feel myself feeling the pain of other characters as well and it was enlightening and heart-breaking as well. Great writing! WOW!
I found myself thinking about how this is a wonderful story to share with my daughter and even my son. Even at a young age, I feel it is important to share stories and lessons about life with our children - especially about dating and self-esteem issues.
This story also shows us that sometimes_ even if God's answer is yes, it's not always the best thing for us.
All three of these stories are wonderfully written and beautifully flowing one into another and I can't wait to go back and read "An Amish Gathering", "An Amish Love", "An Amish Wedding", "An Amish Kitchen" and the upcoming "An Amish Garden". I'll probably wait to read "An Amish Christmas" until a little closer to Christmas time this year.
SoaringEagleUSAGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A fun readJanuary 26, 2014SoaringEagleUSAGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Here is another great Amish novel called The Amish Miracle. It's a novella with 3 stories in one book. The authors who wrote this book are Beth Wiseman, Ruth Reid, and Mary Ellis.
This was a perfect book to read during my recovery from surgery. Each book didn't take me long to read. I finished the 2nd book in one day. I liked that we saw the same characters throughout the 3 books but a different main family/character that the author focused on. It felt like I got to know them pretty well.
The first story was from Mary Ellis and was called Always in My Heart. It is the first time that I read a book from this author and I will definitely read more. It's about a mom named Hope who had to give her son up for adoption after he was born because she got raped at 16 years old. She kept this secret for many years, even from her husband. She regretted her decision about giving up her son. She does eventually find peace and her miracle but you'll need to read this for yourself.
Second book is called Always His Provision by Ruth Reid, another new author to me. This story is about Rosa who is about to lose her farm due to unpaid back taxes. She lost her husband two years ago and due to cows being sick and having to destroy the heard, her late husband never paid the taxes, but Rosa didn't know it. She doesn't want to share her need with her community and so relies on her egg money to hopefully cover the cost. But that won't work. A miracle is needed for sure. Will she get it? Read and find out.
Last book is by a well-know author, Beth Wiseman. The story is called Always Beautiful. Becky is a lovely young woman of 18 yrs of age but overweight. People whisper behind her back about how big she is. She thinks she never will find love because of her weight. She then goes on a strict diet to lose that weight. Will she be happy and find true love?
If you are looking for a fun, interesting read, this book is it.

Rhonda Nash-hallMadison Heights VAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5wonderful novella collectionJanuary 6, 2014Rhonda Nash-hallMadison Heights VAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a delightful Amish novella collection by Mary Ellis, Ruth Reid, and Beth Wiseman. In Always in My Heart by Mary Ellis, Hope is given a second chance with the son she was forced to give up for adoption. God sends this young man back into her life at the age of fifteen. Will James want to stay with his birth mother and get to know his family or will Hope's heart be broken once again? Ruth Reid shares the story of a young, childless widow in Always His Providence, Rosa Hostetler is in desperate need of funds to save her home but she is too proud to ask for help from the Amish community widow's fund. The man her husband died to save has promised to look after her and he wants to help her but she does not trust him enough to share her needs. Will she let go of her pride and open her heart? Becky Byler struggles with her weight and is the laughing stock of the Amish community in Always Beautiful. Becky is pushed to the point of suicide because of her low self-esteem and asks God for a miracle. He grants it as she loses weight and has not one, but two suitors. Will she discover what both young suitors already know? Will she learn that inner beauty matters far more than outer appearance? Read the three novellas to find these answers and more. The authors do a beautiful job of portraying forgiveness, love, inner beauty and sacrifice. I love the way that the three novellas blend together and have characters who share in each others' lives. I am quite curious to know if there will be a sequel to the three novellas as I would love to know what comes next for Hope, Becky and Rosa.
I received a free pdf version of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
