Romance is in the air, old-fashioned courtship is alive and well, and love is an eternal promise.

Healing Hearts by Beth Wiseman

He left to find himself. She found her way without him. Now Levina and Naaman Lapp are together again, feeling miles apart. Although coming home was the right thing to do, Naaman must regain the trust and respect of his wife who, in his absence, has learned to trust God like never before. Could it be that their prior years together have simply been a preface to a greater love than they have ever known?

A Marriage of the Heart by Kelly Long

Since her mother's death, Abby has lived alone with her father and longs to escape the emptiness of the farmhouse that has never felt like home. Joseph Lambert is a newcomer in their close-knit community. Only after they find themselves suddenly married to each other do they begin to understand the tender truths of life-long love.

What the Heart Sees by Kathleen Fuller

When Ellie Chupp loses her sight in an accident--and then her boyfriend shortly after that--she believes love will never be in her future. But Christopher Miller has returned home, five years after fleeing from the tragedy that broke his heart. When Ellie and Chris meet again, sparks fly. Could true love be a matter of seeing with new eyes?

Romantic Times

4 stars - Three of the top authors in Christian literature collaborate on these three Amish-themed novellas. Characters overlap in the stories, which brings unity to the book. These heartwarming tales focus on finding oneself and finding love.

Publisher's Weekly

Three novellas in one book provide variations on the Amish theme. Each stands alone, though characters overlap as three couples search for love. In "A Marriage of the Heart," Abigail Kauffman forces her marriage to Joseph Lambert, a man struggling with his past in the Englisch world. They forge a tentative relationship, but both their pasts may be their undoing. Ellie Chupp, a blind Amish woman in "What the Heart Sees," must face Christopher Miller when he returns to his Amish roots seeking forgiveness for his part in causing Ellie's blindness. But can he forgive himself? One strong woman leads the way. Finally, in "Healing Hearts," Naaman Lapp returns home after a year away to find Levina, his wife of 31 years, distrustful and confused. Naaman woos her as he struggles to make amends with his children. But a mysterious man comes looking for Naaman and rumors begin to fly. Occasional dragging plot lines won't damage the book's selling power. (Dec.) Copyright 2010 Reed Business Information.

Novellas aren't normally my thing. I've found that I enjoy a longer story much more than a short one. However, I bit the bullet in this case, and read an anthology of novellas. And if I really want to be truthful, it was only because Beth Wiseman's name was on the cover. :o)

And guess what? I was pleasantly surprised! Beth's story was great, of course, like all of her other books have been. There were a few places where the story seemed to be rather drawn out, but on the whole, I enjoyed it. I loved that it was a little spicy on the romance which, compared with other Amish novels, was a refreshing change. I came across a review while I was reading this book that said the romance was inappropriate. Puh-lease. I found nothing wrong with a married couple (who had drifted apart from one other) that was desparately trying to reconnect romantically with one another. If that's too much for some folks, I found it to be very realistic because unless you have the *perfect* marriage, there's nothing wrong with a wife being courted all over again by her husband.

    Moving on...

Kathleen's story was just okay. I didn't dislike it, but it just wasn't as great as the other two stories, in my opinion. However, it was different in it's own right, dealing with a young blind woman living among the Amish (which was a first for me).

The most pleasant surprise, though, was Kelly Long's novella--A Marriage of the Heart. Until now, I've not had the pleasure of reading any of Kelly's books, but let me just say...WOW! What a great introduction to a new author! Her story was so much fun, yet serious, and I loved the blossoming romance that happened after an impromtu marriage. I can't wait now to find one of Kelly's full-length novels because I'm pretty confident that I'll find another good story nestled between it's pages. :o)

This set of stories would be perfect for those wanting to try out the Amish genre, or any of these authors, in general. Each novella is a little more than 100 pages, and gives a reader a glimpse into the Amish lifestyle and culture. It would also be a perfect read around Valentine's Day because it is a little heavier on the romance than most Amish stories are. My rating is 4 Stars.

I was delighted to receive in the mail , An Amish Love, to read for pure enjoyment from BookSneeze. I was attracted to the Amish romance novella because it included three novellas in one. Healing Hearts, A Marriage of the Hear, and What the Heart Sees. All the stories were written by different authors, but they worked together to intertwine some of the characters and settings.

It was a simple, enjoyable read for me. I do not read much fiction, but really savored reading this book before going to bed. I appreciated reading about the old-fashioned courtship principle because my dh and I are strongly counseling our children on this idea rather than the traditional dating concept. All authors recognized the true commitment of marriage as sacred.

I recommend An Amish Love to anyone who is looking for a pure, simple, Christian romance that doesn't require engaged thinking. Truly a relaxing read.

Review: An Amish Love Anthology - Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Long - December 2010

When reading any books about the Amish community , a few things always seem to pop up as themes - forced marriages, unrequited love , and woman who think they are going to die old spinsters but end up eventually with the ones they love. Alot of the Amish Books, go along the theme of romance, courtship - a tradition and mannerism that over the years in the worldly sense and many western societies has gone unheard of nowadays. Being a born romantic at heart, I love to cling to their way of life though Im not sure exactly how I would have fit in with having no laptops, ipods and all those modern technology gadgets like ebook readers that many of rely on in our everyday life. The three stories in An Amish Love included are all aspects of a different kind of love story. You have an estranged married couple in one story, and you have a forced wedding in another story. I had previously read books by Beth Wiseman and Kathleen Fuller but had not yet experienced any of Kelly Long's writings and I have to admit though I loved all the stories in this wonderful trio , my favourite would have to be A Marriage of the Heart by Kelly Long. As reading what Abigail did to try and escape her father and then unfortunately have it backfire on her was in two ways I could relate to what she was going through but also it added a bit of humour to the story with her impulsive plan backfiring on her , so here she now has ended up with a marriage and even worst still living in her father's home.

An Amish Love is the perfect read for all those romantics at heart and if you are a fan of the Amish Fiction collection, then this will be one book that if you haven't read already, you should be moving it to the top of your TBR Pile.
