Driven by love and compassion, and sustained by faith and determination, Amy Carmichael defied the cruel barriers of India's caste system. The story of this young woman from Northern Ireland is a brilliant, sparkling example of God's love generously poured out to "the least of these among us."
For ages 10 and up.

Homeschool Specialists' Review
There are hidden treasures in these books about our Christian ancestors. They tell tales that build our faith by revealing God at work in the lives of people who placed their trust in him! They are testimonies to how God will work through both ordinary and extraordinary people alike. They celebrate the type of courageous, dedicated, and godly heroes we want our children to admire.
Little pieces of the stories bring back the fondest memories of our homeschool days. I found these books personally faith-building, and I know they have helped shape my children's faith as well. Approx. 200 pages each, softcovers from YWAM.

Our hope was that we could introduce our children to ordinary people who lived out life in service to God in extraordinary ways (without the denominational slant that is found in so many "missions" books). These books are wonderful! They do such an excellent job of providing biographical facts woven into text that children can understand. One bummer was that this book discussed prostitution (not in great detail, but it was there nonetheless). Historically accurate, yes. Just something to be aware of when you are reading to younger children. We all walked away from this book marveling at Amy Carmiahael's faith . Great book!
