Thirteen-year-old Amon, the son of Jotham and Tabitha, enjoys playing with his friends but is also ready to join his father in the temple court where only men are allowed. Eager to be considered a man, Amon struggles to divide his time betweenhis friends and his duties to family and faith. But when Jotham is falsely accused of a terrible crime, Amon willingly sacrifices his childhood ways in order to save his father's life. Along the way, he sees the jubilant crowds that gathered on Palm Sunday, outwits the Roman soldiers that planned to kill both his father and Jesus, hears the Messiah address the angry crowds, is present during the daring betrayal of Judas Iscariot, and witnesses the ultimate sacrifice made on Good Friday.
With short, exciting chapters, reflections for family devotions, and advice for making Lent a meaningful experience, "Amon's Adventure" will help families discover anew the spiritual power of the resurrection story.
book lover5 Stars Out Of 5a great purpose filled bookApril 22, 2015book loverQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This is our second Arnold Ytreeide book we have read in the last 6 months and we love them both. My kids (ages 8 and 10) and my husband gather around to hear a chapter every night before bed! They beg for more! I really like how the books make them think back through their knowledge of the Bible and tie people and stories together with this book. It makes us all think!
gnncy4 Stars Out Of 5Fast action and historical detailMarch 30, 2015gnncyQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4This series is a pleasure to read. It stretches credulity, and contains a few historical errors. E.G., chocolate was not known in the eastern hemisphere until the 16th century conquest of the Americas. But the pace is non-stop, with every dangerous situation leading to another, perfect for elementary and middle school children. Overall, gives great background of the culture and history of first-century Palestine. Appealing, sympathetic moral characters that invite the reader to identify with them. The evangelical moralizing in between the story chapters was not to my taste, but the story just reads itself with no resistance.

We have all 4 of his books now and they are favorites, getting read over again year after year -- even by my now teens! (We started them as read alouds when they were small.) I can't recommend them highly enough. You won't regret this purchase.

My children ages 7-16 all look forward to me reading it before bed each night. We love these stories because the writing is so descriptive you feel as if you are there. Last night they were excited because they knew it was Jesus riding into Jerusalem.
Homeschool MomKodak, TNAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent devotional--my family loved it!April 2, 2012Homeschool MomKodak, TNAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Mr. Arnold Ytreeide has given us another excellent book to help focus our attention on what is truly important about the holidays. We started out with Jotham's Journey and Bartholomew's Passage, both advent devotionals, which as a mom, I loved the way the children could relate to the Bible through a story format. I was very excited to find that Mr. Ytreeide had written Amon's Adventure focusing on lent/Easter, and was not a bit disappointed in the quality of this devotion as well. I would highly recommend these devotions to anyone wanting to draw their children and families close to Jesus during these two important holidays.
