Heart of Christmas by Marta Perry:
This novella by author Marta Perry shows us just what the Heart of Christmas means. I loved the Characters in this story. Susannah Miller is on the verge of losing her teaching job. The job that means the world to her. Working with children has been so rewarding. What is she to do? Toby Unger, the love of her life, walked away from their relationship ten years ago. He suddenly is back in Pine Creek to stay. Why is he back and how can Susannah avoid him?
I think you will enjoy this novella as much as I did. This delightful Amish community will prove to you that love prevails. I read the last few pages with tears in my eyes.
A Plain Holiday by Patricia Davids:
I so enjoy author Patricia Davids stories. So entertaining but yet the goodness of God and Faith always shine through. Once again this author did not disappoint me.
I enjoyed the characters in this novella, especially Sally Yoder and Ben Lapp. Sally is a confused young lady. Should she return to her Amish community or should she walk away? Ben Lapp has always felt that Sally Yoder was a big embarrassing pain. He wants to get as far away from Sally as possible.
Throw in two children, one a spoiled brat who thinks the world revolves around her. Will she ever understand the true meaning of Christmas?
This novella also brought me to tears at the end of the story.
As a reader you will love this novella. Im looking forward to reading more books by this author.
Two novellas by two different authors but blended by taking place in an Amish community and at the Christmas time.
Loved how the emphasis in both was on the true meaning of the Saviors birth, and not presents. In the first book we have an excellent caring teacher that seems to be being targeted by a new member of their community. This man seems to want Susannah to leave her job; he feels she is to liberal and not adhering to their conservative beliefs. Add to this an old love, actually more than just an old love, she had been ready to marry him, when he upped and left. He has recently returned, and dont quite know how I would feel about him. Can you imagine the hurt he caused her?
The second story really made me feel that God was so in charge here, all they had to do was follow Him and not their own will. See how the doors open, and when the truth came out, I was chuckling. She loves me, no she doesnt she is using you.
I recommend this sweet read, and a good lesson on what our values should be.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Love Inspired, and was not required to give a positive review.
Christmas stories that will warm your heart. I love the mix of family and Christmas in both novellas. These authors know how to weave plots full of strife and joy all wrapped up in the Amish genre I love so much. Perry and Davids deliver riveting stories that bring healing and hope.
