A PURPOSE FOR READING...
Always True by James MacDonald (Book Review)
GodâÂÂs Promises Are Experienced IN Jesus Christ
âÂÂIt is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in meâ Galatians 2:20
I wasnâÂÂt exactly on my best reading behavior as I encountered Pastor James MacDonaldâÂÂs book, âÂÂAlways True, GodâÂÂs 5 Promises when life is hard.â In fact, I found Jamesâ book HARD to read! That is, until the middle of the book and Jesus reminded me of the promise of Romans 8:28 âÂÂAnd we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.âÂÂ
I knew there was a purpose for me to read âÂÂAlways Trueâ and I am glad I didnâÂÂt allow myself to lose confidence, but continued to read on. I learned through GodâÂÂs word, today is my chance to honor God and live my life victoriously and walk by faith as I wait for God to work.
I want to encourage you to take the time to check out the book, âÂÂAlways Trueâ by James MacDonald. If God has demonstrated his faithfulness to you then share your testimony- encourage others to see GodâÂÂs faithfulness in their lives. Live the overflowing life of GodâÂÂs promises and rejoice always giving thanks.
God Bless Your Day Today!

Always TRUE: God's 5 promises when life is hard
Always TRUE: God's 5 promises when life is hard is a new release (2011) from Moody Publishers. TRUE is written by Pastor James MacDonald.
In TRUE MacDonald encourages readers who are experiencing difficulties with powerful reminders of five of God's promises to His children.
God is Always with Me - I Will Not Fear
God Is Always in Control - I Will Not Doubt
God Is Always Good - I Will Not Despair
God Is Always Watching - I Will Not Falter
God Is Always Victorious - I Will Not Fail
These sound, at first, like the same-o, same-o promises that we hear from our pulpits regularly. The difference in this and other books about God's promises is that James MacDonald and his wife lived these out and proved in their own hearts that God's promises really ARE true when we need them the most. The truths are fundamental, but MacDonald presents them with a refreshing sense of hope and personal victory.
According to MacDonald this book was born from a time of personal desperation in his life-a crucible of questions and events for more than two years. He states :"We didn't see it coming, and once we were in the furnace our regular resources for relief became totally inadequate...We just wanted to survive...I was the man gasping and going under for the third time and these promises were my lifeline. By them I was pulled to safety--and you can be too." (pp. 13-14)
MacDonald's style is casual and conversational. Reading TRUE was like sitting across the table from him chatting, listening over coffee. The book is filled with incidents from his personal struggle, but it is replete with Scripture. So, be sure to read this with your Bible close at hand.
The discussions of each chapter are accompanied by "Take To Heart" and "Know By Heart" sections.
"Take To Heart" sections include thought provoking questions to help readers make the truth discussed their very own.
"Know By Heart" sections give readers life-preservers from Scripture to memorize and hold onto when the floods of difficulty threaten to drown us.
The end matter in the book includes a note of encouragement and a detailed Index of Scriptures in the text.
If you're being dragged out to sea by one of life's storms, or if you know someone who is, I recommend this book to remind you of, and encourage you with, the truths that God IS real and His Word is true.
I know from personal experience that when it seems we're going under, a book like TRUE can keep us afloat.

A Powerful Book for All Believers
In this encouraging book, Pastor James MacDonald opens the Bible and explores five of the great promises God has made to His people. These are promises that are true in every generation, and God is by nature a promise-keeper.
This book was written following some of the darkest times of the authorâÂÂs life. This is not a preachy âÂÂhereâÂÂs how you should feelâ type book. This is an honest, heartfelt look at the hope that God has given us and the promises that He has made to help carry us through the trials of life.
This book is laid out in such a way that it is very easy to study and apply these promises to your life. Each promise is preceded by a section called âÂÂThe Theology of a Promise,â where Pastor James opens GodâÂÂs Word to help us better understand God and His nature. He then explores a promise of God. The promise chapters each end with a section called âÂÂTake to Heartâ which summarizes the definition of the promise and offers practical ways to apply it in our life. There is also a memory verse to go along with each promise, allowing the reader to hide GodâÂÂs Word in their heart and be able to bring it to mind when troubles come. This layout makes it an outstanding resource for preparing believers to face difficulties.
I was very moved by this book. IâÂÂve been going through a very difficult time in my life, and this book was exactly what I needed to read. This book was written after Pastor James went through the darkest period of his life, and his personal perspective makes it very relatable and comforting to read.
These promises are real. It is so humbling and awe-inspiring to contemplate these promises. God, the Author and Creator of the universe, has made promises to us and we can know that He will always keep them.
A complimentary review copy of this book was provided to me by C. Grant & Company, but that in no way influenced my opinion of it.

Powerful & insightful book about finding faith
Always Trust by James MacDonald is a powerful devotional based on one man's battle to trust in God when in the fight for his life. MacDonald faced a terrifying cancer, plus struggles within his church which made him question God and His goodness. He turned to the Bible for answers, and what he came up with is this thoughtful and emotional book. MacDonald discovered five unshakable truths of God during this time: I will not fear, I will not doubt, I will not despair, I will not falter, and I will not fail; and while we may do all of those things, He will not, and that is where we can place our trust. MacDonald uses Scripture and personal reflection to support each promise, and readers will feel both moved and inspired by MacDonald's deep faith. Some quotes from the book: Faith is what moves God's promises from your head to your heart. Stronghold is what God's goodness looks like to the enemy on the outside; refuge is what God's goodness looks like to us on the inside. God wants you to be so familiar with His character and live so confidently in your faith that you can say, "I know what God's going to do. I don't know when or how, but He's made me some promises, and I can walk by faith until I see it. This is truly one of the best theological books of the 21st century and will offer readers hope in times of darkness.
