Not the kind of book I would recommend as Christian reading.
RuthUpstate SCAge: 45-54Gender: Female1 Stars Out Of 5Almost HomeJanuary 15, 2016RuthUpstate SCAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 0Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1Let me preface my review: The title, story description, and reviewers' opinions influenced my decision to buy this book.
During the reading I felt as if I had read it before and delegated that opinion to the reviews etc. After checking the publication date I believe this to be a re-do, reprint or whatever. The previous name of the writer (Williard) is not in CBD's author/artist listing but it also did not help with my memory.
The story premise is neat and some of the dialogue is funny, the temper tantrums no so much. The woman leaving helter-skelter to avoid an ex and the man bent on a fact-finding mission without thinking of some serious consequences are a little over the top, But all is well that ends well, and surprisingly civilly.
BUT and here is where stars and all evaluations take a kamikaze dive.: Euphemistic cursing throughout even by the 'strong' Christian character. Almost within the same breath she rebukes the man for 'using the Lord's name in vain" and proceeds with the cussing.
The language would lose all the stars i.e. 0 if rating would register.
I am sorry but there is not going to be any kind of recommendation from me.
Hal HaireChinaAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Great Christmas Love StoryDecember 14, 2012Hal HaireChinaAge: 55-65Gender: maleCarla Rossi includes wonderful, quick, witty dialogues in this cute, believable story. I laughed out loud numerous times as I read it - for the second time! The book has a masculine appeal because of the very real, male character. The tender, yet oppositional, love-connection is fascinating to watch as it unfolds. Although fairly predictable, the dialogue itself keeps your attention. A good holiday read!!!
