As a busy Mom of young children and the wife of a pastor, I often skim new books or the latest trends. I've heard most of it before and attempted all of it at some point in my Christian life. If I'm going to sit down and absorb something, I generally read Dee Henderson's fiction or something I can escape with. This book, however, has stopped me in my tracks. I am not only sitting down and carefully taking in every word Meyers writes, I am rereading, quoting and reading this book aloud to my husband! She has captured every woman's heartbeat and writes with a depth and clarity only the Spirit of God could have given to her. She has experienced the depths of loneliness and disappointment and takes the reader alongside to the other side of hope. The hope she instructs of is the real thing. This is what I thought the Christian life was supposed to be about, and it is exactly what the New Testament teaches Christians. It is not, however, another simplistic formula for how to live the Christian life. If you want to be transformed and move out of the "10-steps to a more Godly life movement" into a rich encounter with the Almighty Creator of the Universe, you must experience what Meyers teaches here. This is what an open heart to the way of Christ is all about. If you've read any of Eldredge (The Sacred Romance and Wild at Heart and Journey of Desire)you'll feel right at home.
