Product Description

When her mother dies in a tragic car accident, 12-year-old Belle becomes withdrawn and sullen. It takes the power of her gruff grandfather's love and her work with the animals on his horse farm to help her let go of her painful past, trust God, and find hope in the future. A tender coming-of-age story! 112 minutes.

Belle, a 12-year old, becomes sullen and withdrawn after her mother's death in an automobile accident_ understandable_. The father seems to do nothing to help her grieve and spends too much time at work and not enough time with or interest in Belle. Belle 'succeeds' in solving all the problems presented in this movie through disobedience and disrespect.

At the halfway point of the movie, after a rebellious Belle takes things into her own hands and then runs away, I thought there would be a change in her character_ but this is actually when she becomes "the boss". I understand her being horrified to find that on the farm 'imperfect' animals were culled. However, there are ways to communicate ideas for changing the status quo without taking the entire situation into her own hands.

She was never disciplined for any of her actions throughout the movie or any of the danger she put herself and others into (this includes the animals she was trying to "help"). At this point she takes over the farm and how it is run, and this with consent from the adults involved! A 12-year old taking control of everything!!

I did not appreciate when the actor (Peter Boyle) said, "It was raining like God just wet his pants". This is the only referral to God. There is nothing to indicate that the family turns their "trust to God". On the contrary_ they continually refer to the book "To Kill A Mockingbird". It seems to be their "bible". They use it as nightly reading material, and as their guide to life. It is constantly quoted from, and they carry this book around like Christians carry their Bible.

The father's girlfriend/veterinarian wears very immodest clothing. Her pants are very low cut and tight, and her tops are short. She wore a dress on their date which had a very plunging neckline.

I agree with the others who say this movie should be filed ---- in the trash!!

I have nothing good to say about this one. The Lords name is taken in vain several times, He is refered to in an Extremely irreverent manner. Besides that the movie is slow, boring and deals with some pretty heavy stuff for kids. The girl blames her Dad for using euthanasia on his wife/ her mom. Some tough scenes for animal loving kids. This one is going in the trash.

I had seen previews of this movie and thought it looked good. However, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Very enjoyable story. Communication and being open to the truth helps everyone resolve the conflict and retores relationships.

My husband and I rented this movie expecting to see the girl's life and attitude changed, and so on. We were so disappointed that her experiences did not convict her of her bossy, demanding, selfish bents.
