Publisher's Description

Albert Einstein. His name has become a synonym for genius. His wild case of bedhead and playful sense of humor made him a media superstar?the first, maybe only, scientist-celebrity. He wasn?t much for lab work; in fact he had a tendency to blow up experiments. What he liked to do was think, not in words but in ?thought pictures.? What was the result of all his thinking? Nothing less than the overturning of Newtonian physics. Once again, Kathleen Krull delivers a witty and astute look at one of the true ?Giants of Science? and the turbulent times in which he lived.

Author Bio

Kathleen Krull, the noted social historian, lives in San Diego, California.

Boris Kulikov, the illustrator of the series, lives in New York City.

Editorial Reviews

"Krull once again demonstrates her ability to balance a description of the personality of a genius with the significance of his contribution to science." —School Library Journal

"[An] engrossing and remarkably accessible biography." —Horn Book

As a teacher I was assigned to share this with middle school students. I had some basic knowledge of Einstein but this book offers so much more. It offers a thorough examination of his scientific theories, his quirky characteristics and his personal life. My only concern was I'm not sure how many schools or parents want to be delving in reagrding his "affairs". Here it is written as a matter of fact. if I was the author and knew the audience was middle school students I would probably steer it in another direction. It is fascinating story!
