Product DescriptionThe blood feud between the Merclifs and the Cardels has been raging for years. To end it, King Henry orders handsome,self-reliant Alaric, Baron Merclif, to marry Helena, Cardel's daughter. But can Alaric risk bringing her intohis serene home? What if she is like her greedy, evilfather and brothers? Yet what other choice does Alaric have?
When Helena overhears her father's secret plans to invade Merclif Castle and murder her and Alaric on their wedding night, she knows she must tell Alaric. But can she trust him? And if he stops the plot, will he annul their forced marriage-her only chance to get away from her abusive father? As Helena struggles to overcome the fears and shame degradation, she wonders if any man could ever accept her scars and choose to love her just as she is. Product Information

Located in: Santa Clarita, CA Submitted: January 27, 2009 Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a librarian and live with my husband and two teenage children in Southern California. I've published a non-fiction work, C.S. Lewis: A Reference Guide 1972-1988 (New York: G.K. Hall, 1993). Alarics Song is my first novel. What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to write the kind of historical romance novel that I enjoy reading--a fast paced story with a powerful and exciting romance between the heroine and the hero. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that readers will enjoy the story and that the romance between Helena and Alaric will touch their hearts. How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was able to explore the nature of God's love for us and what it means to surrender our will to Him. Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Some of my favorite books (just in the order I happened to remember them): * Redeeming Love and the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers * Freefall and the Michelli Family Series by Kristen Heitzman * Bride Most Begrudging and Measure of a Lady by Deeanne Gist * Legends of the Guardian King series by Karen Hancock * The Gifted series by Lisa Tawn Bergren * Fountain Creek Chronicles series by Tamera Alexander * Refiners Fire series by Lynn Austin * Crossroads of Grace series by Alice Pittman Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: For a preview of the first two chapters of the novel, please visit my web site susanlowenberg.com/books Find Related Products
