MY grandnephew surprised both family and friends with his decision to die at his own hand. I was very concerned about his parents, his sister, his grandparents and his aunts. This book was excellent in its coverage of the impact on family, the statistics. religious concerns and beginning to recover. I sent it to his mother.

I have read many books in search of answers and to find a way to cope with my loss. Out of all the books this one has been the best so far. It has brought me more peace and answers than any of the others. No, it can't answer all my specific questions although as survivors our questions are basically the same, WHY? But it did help me let go and not continue to search for someone, something to blame for my loved one's decision. My journey into healing has just begun, but this book has put me on the path towards healing. I can't recommend this book enough. Try any of the other books out there (I will continue to read what I can find) but you must read this if you are a suicide survivor or know someone that is. Thank you so much to David Cox and Candy Arrington.

Written from the perspective of someone who is in the counseling profession, the author includes his personal story of childhood trauma when his own father took his life. The lack of communication concerning the death of his father made this already tragic event even more scarring on the life of the son. He also shares the stories of other survivors, their reactions and feelings. The book is insightful and helpful.
