This revolutionary work is the first one-volume commentary written exclusively by African theologians. Coming from an Evangelical perspective, it explains Scripture using appropriate examples from current African culture and the rich history of African proverbs. As such, it applies God's Word to distinctively African concerns, yet it includes fresh insights that have a universal appeal.
In addition to the section-by-section interpretive commentary, including application, the Africa Bible Commentary contains more than 70 special articles on topics of key importance to African ministry today---which have global implications. It also transcends the African context with insights into biblical texts and the Christian faith for readers worldwide.
The Africa Bible Commentary is unique. Written by African theologians and produced in Africa, it is the first one-volume commentary ever created to help pastors, students, and lay leaders in Africa apply Gods Word to distinctively African concerns, yet its fresh insights will have a universal appeal.

This commentary provides a useful overview of Scripture from an African cultural perspective. The comments are solidly Christian and the cultural perspective is insightful.

One of the best one volume bible commentaries that I have. I just read some chapters and skim thru the book. The commentary on the Gospel of John written by a scholar, Samuel M. Ngewa, is excellent. Samuel M. Ngewa has his own bible commentary that was published in 2003. It is very obvious that he knows very well on this Gospel. He wrote in succint style but complete and indepth enough for my references and detailed studies. Only on this chaper is worth money I spent upon. Highly recommend!!!

I haven't read much yet, but what I have read has been helpful in understanding the passage.
