Dr. David Jeremiah discusses different kinds of fear and what the Bible says about it. There are ten fears listed, all starting with D, with Scripture verses accompanying them. I thought the book was good and the author made some good points, but some of the chapters were rather long.
What Are You Afraid Of? is a good read. The author discusses different fears people have in each chapter and accompanies them with modern stories and scripture. These fears include: Disaster, Disease, Debt, Defeat, Disconnection, Disapproval, Danger, Depression, Death and Deity. The chapters with Disconnection, Depression and Death were more interesting to me than the others. Disconnection discusses about not personally connecting with people and constantly connecting through online activities. I have had to cope with Depression, so that one was personal to me. And Death was comforting for me to read.
What Are You Afraid Of? Is a book that helps its readers tackle and overcome their fears with faith. Everyone has a fear and many people become so tangled with worries that it takes over their lives. In this book, Dr. Jeremiah teaches his readers the basic fears that plague many and then explains how we can overcome them in a practical manner. One thing, which hit home with me, is that fears are not something God wants His children to be overcome by. I was also surprised about how many Bible verses there are about fear and how many times God told His people to not be afraid. What I learned from this book is that though fear can be a good thing to help us stay safe, God doesnt want it to take over our lives and instead put our trust in Him and stop worrying. This is a great book for anyone who constantly worries or has anxiety because it will help empower the reader to overcome their fear with faith in God and His power.
Dr. Jeremiah brings to light some of the most common fears people have and uses verses from the Bible to help people learn how to overcome them. He also uses real life stories to show some of the fears that other people have had and overcome.
This book would be an excellent resource for anyone who lives in fear and wants help on learning how to overcome it.
