My husband and I have dealt with the issue of pornography a fair amount in our marriage...I would say maybe once a year. This year, 2009 has been very different. I bought this book after discovering he had still continued to look at pornography this year after several threats by me to leave if he continued this behavior. I figured this book would basically be another woman's story of how this affected her home. Well, it is in a way but it gives very gruesome details some women may not be ready for if they have just discovered their husband is viewing pornography. I URGE women to read this book after spending MUCH time in your word and in prayer with God. Allow Him to prepare you and guard your mind. I read this and the enemy immediately used this to torment me in my mind with all the details of this book. I read this book within a few days of discovering my husband was still viewing pornography and I should have waited. I read all the horrible things this man did and how pornography had ruined their home and became almost hopeless!! WARNING---THIS IS NOT A HAPPY ENDING STORY! Her husband never changes and they end up getting divorced. I almost wish I had not read the book because I began to wonder if my husband was this perverse or how long before he would stoop to the extreme perversions she talked about. I am glad I read the book b/c I learned a lot more than I could've ever imagined about the effects of pornography. BUT---I read this and was already in despair over the whole ordeal and sunk even further. Please read this after the initial despair and shock of your spouse's virtual infidelity have sunk in. Read this with your mind made up to fight NOW and use this book as a learning technique against your opponent. DON'T look for encouragement in this book--you wont find it.

This is one of the top ten books out there on the topic of male sexual sin. When we talk of male sexual sin these days the focus tends to be on one symptom: porn. However the root problem is lust, and there are several other symptoms that need to be addressed. This book does a great job discussing these other areas, such as masturbation. This is book is for ALL women, because ALL men and boys struggle with sexual sin. This book will lay it all out for you and explain in painful detail how seemingly minor purity issues develope into full-blown sexual addiction if left unattended to. This book is not just for wives who are victims of worrst cases of sexual addiction, it is for all wives who don't want to become a victim or don't want their sons' wives to become victims.

She wrote my story. It is healing and vindicating to have someone articulately put into words the exact emotions and devastation a woman experiences with the exploitation of her husband's sin upon her life. I only wish I'd known of it and read it 10 years earlier; it would have saved me years of extremely distressing emotional, mental, spiritual and financial abuse. Now recognizing the pathological lying, narcissism, control and manipulation that accompanies this horrendous bondage, I will truly be able to minister to other "victims" of this demoralizing sin. A sexual addiction in a marriage with it's accompanying horrors is the deepest betrayal to the heart of a trusting, faithful, devoted wife. The pain cannot be fully described. Broken trust over many years is never fully restored and she grieves that loss even in her healing. If more men (and women)in leadership got real with themselves, the Lord and the churches where they serve and sought the truth to truly help women in these devastating situations we would have stronger families today. Our country is where it is today because the church is powerless today. The church is powerless because the men are weak. The men are weak because they are not stepping into their rightful role before God. We need a wave of strong men who know how to be men as God called them to be;to protect, cherish, honor and set example before their children (the next generation),how to humbly, lovingly and sacrificially lead in the way that the Lord intended for them to bless those under their care. Laurie's book shows the reality of this epidemic that is plaguing the church today. It's time people wake up and deal with it for many souls are at stake for eternity here.

There cannot possibly be a better book and a more blessed and talented author...Laurie Hall is truly touched by God to be able to give the illustrations and verses she shared in this book. For victims everywhere...thank you, Laurie, for your time and love and compassion in writing this book. It brought a lot of insight and healing into my life.

An Affair of the Mind is one of the best books. Yes it deals with a pron addition, but the way that effects the rest of life was most revealing. The lies, attitude, actions, arrogance and control. I learned so much from this book. Lots of red flags.

Laurie Hall is amazing! I read this along with "Broken Heart on Hold - Surviving Separation" by Linda Rooks... BOTH books gave me hope through Jesus to look beyond my husband's sin and addiction, while still acknowledging my own hurt and pain without allowing it to consume me with depression. Rather, it taught me about the stronghold the enemy has on my husband, and how to pray for his release and salvation. Laurie Hall, thank you for helping me to rise above myself, and see how my husband is trapped and hurting and may not even know it. Ladies! This book is a must! Learn to prayerfully fight FOR your husband, and AGAINST the enemy!

Cried my way through this book, but read the whole thing in 2 days. It was so comforting to know there is someone who knows exactly how I feel.
