Series: Imagination Station
This time and place is home to Albert, Mr. Whittaker's ancestor, whom the kids have been trying to save in the first three books by collecting treasures from elsewhere in history. But the evil Hugh wants the treasures for himself. Patrick and Beth, with the help of Sir Andrew and his squire James, must stop Hugh and protect Albert. The books climax is a tense jousting scene where Patrick and Beth must protect Sir Andrew and unveil Hughs schemes.
The series is written at a second grade reading level, but that didn't keep me from being pulled into the plot from the beginning. Patrick and Beth's quest to save Albert begins in the first book of the series, Voyage with the Vikings, and it doesn't end with this installment. Even so, the ample prologue enabled me to follow the plot from this book.
Those familiar with the audio drama "Adventures in Odyssey" will find the series intriguing, as the Imagination Station now seems to have a mind of its own. However, kids who have never listened to "Adventures in Odyssey" can understand the story just as easily. The series is patterned off the Magic Tree House books, which also teach kids about history. But, Patrick and Beth know magic doesn't exist. The Imagination Station, its sometimes-faulty programming, and Mr. Whittaker control everything. Every Imagination Station book has a Christian perspective on history and life.
At the end of the book is a puzzle with a code word that unlocks a prize on the series' website, www.theimaginationstation.com. The website also contains a suggested vocabulary list and a digital copy of the book. Kids with sufficient reading skills can enjoy Revenge of the Red Knight and its quality illustrations on their own, or families can read them aloud. Who knows, maybe younger kids will catch their older siblings reading about Patrick and Beths adventures. Alexandra Mellen, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com

Patrick and Beth have been helping retrieve "lost" treasure from different time periods. They find themselves in a dark cave with the Imagination Station nowhere to be found. Turns out they are in Medieval England and may soon discover why they've been searching for the treasures.
This was a neat look at the time period. They learned about jousting and how revolts occurred and governments were overthrown. My kids enjoyed reading this book as well. I enjoy how the smallest details also help teach about the time period, namely the clothing that they had to wear. Another fun, kids book. I recommend reading it.

This book and the earlier ones in the series aren't my favorite. The beginning books are written as a series so they continue the stories in the next book. I liked the later books in the series that were just written as stand alone adventure stories. The later books also talked about the read life characters in the stories. This one doesn't say at the end that is was based on any true story at all. I think it was just a great, make believe adventure. I like the stories that were based on true adventures. But all in all, this was still a great fiction story for kids.
bookwormPennsylvaniaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Full of Christian TruthsJuly 7, 2014bookwormPennsylvaniaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Revenge of the Red Knight is another great book from the Focus on the Family organization. In this book, Beth, and Patrick travel to England during the 15th century as guests in a castle. They take with them the artifacts they retrieved from their earlier adventures and are accused by a steward of being thieves. They are locked up in jail and while there, Beth manages to escape. After she escapes, she finds out who the real thief is and the motive behind his actions. This was another great book in the Imagination Station series and it is full of historical facts about the crusades, knights, and sound Christian values that will captivate young readers.

They, also, run into the scoundrel Master Hugh, who makes an appearance in other Imagination Station books. This isn't one of my favorite stories of the series but still enjoyed it.
