This is a great set of stories. The thing I enjoyed the most was the realism within the story and how the story connected two stories together. The two stories connected are the life story of the characters who travel in the imagination station and the historical experience they have in their journey. In my opinion this motif is one of the factors that makes all the earlier stories just a little bit better. It makes them read-again stories.

I grew up with the Adventures in Odyssey radio show and still LOVE it to this day! So upon coming across this series of books by Paul McCusker, one of the incredibly talented writers for the show, I was intrigued and had to read. And I'm really glad I did.

"Point of No Return" takes the reader back to a time before even the first episode of AIO and gives some great backstory to a number of characters, as well as some characters whom we never meet in the show. My favorite part of the book was the chronicling of Jimmy Barclay's coming to know Christ as his Savior. He was one of my favorite characters on the show, and I loved that this book gave you a glimpse into his past. :)

There's a lot more to the book, and I won't give it all away, but just simply say that if you're a fan of the great radio show, Adventures in Odyssey, I can see no reason why you won't love this book too!

    Point of No Return

    by Paul McCusker

This is a 4 books in 1 set which is a reprint of the original Adventures in Odyssey books that were printed in the early 1990's. For the fans of the radio program and the videos they did, many of the characters found in the books are not in the radio program and videos because the books are set earlier than the others.

This set includes books 8 through 11 which includes Point of No Return, Freedom's Run, Dark Passage, and The Stranger's Message. In The Point of No Return, Jimmy Barclay's getting into trouble. But when the children's pastor starts talking with him and clearly shares the Gospel with him. When Jimmy Barclay says yes to Jesus, he expects that everything in his life will get better. When it doesn't, he finds out that doing the right thing isn't always easy. In Dark Passage, Jack Davis and Matt Booker ignore a keep-out sign on the Imagination Station. Suddenly, they're in pre-Civil War America, where slave traders capture Matt. The story continues in the next book, Freedom Run, in which Matt escapes from the slave traders and he and Jack have an adventure in traveling the Underground Railroad. The last book, The Stranger's Message, a stranger comes to Whit's End and the kids start asking, "What would Jesus do?"

Filled with hard decisions, questions, and history, these books are great for kids. In fact, i first read The Stranger's Message when i was a kid and loved it.
