It all starts at Whit's End Soda Shop plus. Plus what? Well, there is a radio studio, a theater, a library, a model train, and a Bible room – but this adventure doesn't start in any of those places. This adventure starts in The Imagination Station. Better than a video game ever imagined, Whit's Imagination Station has a computer that can do just about anything. It also has a time machine. Dressing them appropriately, Whit sticks Beth and Patrick in this time machine and they go off to rescue a very mysterious Albert by finding a Viking sunstone. Danger and adventures galore meet the two as they meet Erik the Red and Leif Erikson, and search for that sunstone. Thieves, tidal waves, spears, and bolted door mysteries fill Beth and Patrick's days until they finally make it back to Whit's End. Based very firmly on history, Bible morals (early Christians as well as Vikings are in this story), and the teaching of reading skills, this book closes with some puzzles drawn from the story.

Focus on the Family's Adventures in Odyssey presents this new series, The Imagination Station. Voyage with the Vikings is book 1 of this series. Not only fun reading, this book will fit into the history studied in grades levels 1-7. It is written to engage and enhance the literary skills of ages 7 and up. Prolific writer on articles and books for young people, Marianne Hering knows well how to engage young readers. Award winning author and creator of the Father Gilbert Mysteries, Paul McCosker adds his know-how to this story. Voyage with the Vikings is a chapter book which will fit well into the reading curriculum for both home-schoolers and classrooms. The words will challenge 7-year-olds, but the story interest will keep them engaged in the reading. Older students will enjoy reading this and be able to use activities from Voyage with the Vikings such as book discussions, journaling, and story mapping. – Donna Eggett, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
