5 Stars Out Of 5
Bible reading for the young
June 28, 2014
I was thoroughly pleased to receive The Adventure Bible for Young Readers, which is designed specifically for children still learning to read. This Bible is perfect for those who are ready to explore the Bible on their own. It is filled with colorful illustrations and important facts and figures throughout to enhance a child's personal Bible study. Based on the bestselling Adventure Bible, this Bible has the full text of the New International Reader's Version (NIrV--"The NIV for Kids!"), which is easy for young children to read and understand. The Adventure Bible for Young Readers will help children esxtablish a life-long habit of turning to God's Word for guidance. I would say the recommended ages are 6 to 10.
Some of the features that I appreciated about this Bible include:
"Life in Bible Times" helps kids understand what it was like to live in Bible times. For visual appeal, each box includes a color picture.
"People in Bible Times" helps readers to sort out Zechariah from Zacchaeus, Joseph from Joash.
"Words to Treasure" highlights popular verses for kids to memorize.
"Did You Know?" points out many of the interesting facts and figures found in the Bible.
"Let's Live It!" suggests activities, such as playing games and drawing pictures to reinforce the Bible lessons.
A Dictionary/concordance helps with those tricky words.
Book Introductions give basic facts about each book of the Bible (who wrote it, where it took place, and why it was written).
Full-color pages throughout give more interesting information about the Bible and what it means to be a Christian.
My daughter was thrilled with this young readers version and cannot wait till she is really reading to dive in. Her sister has the same Bible, but an earlier edition without the full color. Our version also has a hologram front cover adding to the visual effect of the Bible. Any young reader will enjoy this and being able to share in the love for God's Word with this Bible.
