Product Description

Commercialism and kitsch have overshadowed the way the West celebrates Christ's birth. McKinley and Seay seek to counteract these cultural inroads by establishing vigorous traditions more in keeping with God's original intent—spending less, giving more, worshiping fully, and loving all. Christmas will change the world when you give what matters most—yourself! 160 pages, softcover from Zondervan with four session discussion guide.

Publisher's Description

This four-session DVD study invites us to worship Christ more meaningfully this Christmas by giving relationally to family, friends, and those most in need. Join pastors Rick McKinley (Imago Dei Community) and Chris Seay (Ecclesia) as we learn how to restore the scandal of Christmas by substituting compassion for consumption.

Author Bio

Rick McKinley was educated at Multnomah University and earned his Doctorate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. However, most of his education has come from pastoring Imago Dei Community since 2000 with his wife Jeanne in Portland, OR. Imago Dei is now a large congregation situated in the heart of the city, reaching out to Portland through preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and creatively engaging the city for the social good. He is also the author of Jesus in the Margins and This Beautiful Mess. Chris Seay is the pastor of Ecclesia, a progressive Christian community in Houston, Texas, recognized for exploring spiritual questions of culture and breaking new ground in art, music, and film. Chris is the author of The Gospel According to Tony Soprano and The Gospel Reloaded. He lives in Houston with his wife, Lisa, and their four children.
