Located in: San Antonio, TX Submitted: May 23, 2011 Tell us a little about yourself. I'm semi retired after 45 years in education. At the time I wrote Winston Grammar, I was frustrated with what was available to teach grammar, so my products reflect my belief that grammar does NOT have to be boring. What was your motivation behind this project? No one ever taught me grammar in a way I could learn it! I struggled. It all came together for me as a young teacher, hearing the students moan at grammar time and continued to struggle. By studying how they reacted, I noted what might make things better, so we published and my students' reactions were dramatically positive. Dr. Raymond Moore heard about our program and urged me to contact some home school resources. We did, and from reviews over the years, I think our program is a good fit for the home school and the school classroom. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Students who enjoy and master basic grammar; mentors who enjoy teaching about language and have the resource to guide them. How were you personally impacted by working on this project? It made me rethink all I thought I knew about the learning process. It convinced me: "if students can't learn the way we teach them, teach the way they learn." Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Piaget, Montessori, my former students, and my parents. Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: We all use language, so let's use it well. :) Find Related Products |
