Excellent guide to Acts!

Wow. This commentary series gets around! The series started life as the Good News Commentary from Harper & Row, then became the New International Biblical Commentary from Hendrickson (re-typeset and switched from the Good New Bible to the NIV), and is now re-released by Baker as the Understanding the Bible Series. Keep in mind you have to pretty much ignore the 2011 date. These commentaries were all written in the 1980s and 1990s (still good, however!).
Now to the Acts Commentary. It would be easy to consider this a lightweight, as many in this series are. However, I found this volume packed with helpful information for understanding Acts. It is somewhat comparable in size to Marshall's Acts commentary in the Tyndale series (also excellent). Williams, however, in addition to providing the historical, linguistic, and scriptural information to help guide you through Acts, often provides some practical and theological insights, generally lacking in many commentaries of this sort.
If you are an individual who is looking for a commentary on Acts for your personal study, or if you are a Bible study group leader, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, or even Pastor, you will find this a helpful guide through the Acts of the Apostles.
