Product Information
Publisher's DescriptionUndoubtedly the most revered leader in American history, Abraham Lincoln has had more books written about him than all our nation's presidents put together. But for all that's been written, little has focused on his faith and how this quality shaped the man who led our country during its most tumultuous years. Author Joe Wheeler, historian and scholar, brings to the pages of this insightful book the knowledge gleaned from over ten years of study and more than sixty books on the life and times of Abraham Lincoln. Skillfully weaving his own narrative with direct quotes from Abraham Lincoln and poignant excerpts from other Lincoln biographers, Joe Wheeler brings a refreshingly friendly rendition Lincoln's life, faith and courage. The stories, historical details, and powerful quotes on the pages of this book will leave a lasting impression on your heart, your mind, and your life.
Author BioJoe Wheeler is a professional anthologist and a historian of ideas. Over the span of seventeen years, he has compiled and edited sixty-four books, forty-eight of them being story anthologies. Some of the best known are Christmas in My Heart, Heart to Heart, Great Stories Remembered, and The Good Lord Made Them All series. Wheeler earned a master's in history from Pacific Union College, a master's in English from Sacramento State University, and a PhD in English (history of ideas emphasis) from Vanderbilt University. In his thirty-four-year teaching career, he taught English on junior high, senior high, junior college, and college levels, and chaired college English and communication departments in three states. Wheeler is considered the world's foremost authority on the life and times of Zane Grey, and he cofounded the international Zane Grey's West Society and continues as its executive director. Now, after a lifetime of collecting Lincoln stories, poems, and sayings, he has written Abraham Lincoln: A Man of Faith and Courage.
