When Cal (Gerald McRaney) and his niece Fern (Alison Pill) move to Bethlehem, Kentucky, they are lacking Christmas spirit. Cal must tackle the depressing job of digging the school district out of a deep financial hole while Fern is angry about yet another move, this time to the home of her eccentric grandfather (Andy Griffith). But when they meet the lovely music teacher, Lily Waite (Naomi Judd), both Cal and Fern have a change of heart. Fern begins to take an interest in music again—a passion of her late mother's—and Cal takes an interest in Lily. Life seems perfect for everyone until Cal's job forces him to make a decision that might change everything. Approx. 90 minutes.

IT IS A MOST MOVING STORY, THE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT STARS WERE CHOSEN, FOR LITTLE FERN, TOO (ALISON PILL), FOR EACH ROLE AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL SCENERY, BESIDES! THE ACTING IS VERY TRUE-TO-LIFE AND MAKES ME FEEL ALMOST LIKE THE CHARACTERS ARE THE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES! IN THEIR REAL LIVES! NOW THAT IS ACTING! JUST A PERFECT MOVIE, AND I HAVE GIVEN COUNTLESS PEOPLE THIS DVD FOR A CHRISTMAS GIFT! SURE WISH I COULD'VE SEEN IT IN THE THEATER WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT!
ThankfulWilmington, DEAge: 45-54Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5December 19, 2012ThankfulWilmington, DEAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2Very predictable. Irratating that it had to start out by putting in a sleazy scene where elderly Andy Griffith gets a squeeze from his girlfriend under the table at a restuarant. Main character (Naomi Judd) is too perfect. Andy Griffith says he can't marry his girlfriend of several years because he misses his deceased wife, that is until she gets some of his old friends together and he instantly changes his mind-very shallow. On the good side-no sex, violence or curse words.
