A rich, heartwarming story about discovering Gods love, acceptance, and healingfor even the most damaged hearts. Its 1917, and Samantha OBrien, seventeen years old, runs away from Wisconsin to Minnesota to escape a drunkard father and broken home. She is accepted with open arms into the Klaassen family, German-Mennonites who show both love and patience to this lonely and defensive girl. Samanthas fractured childhood and its devastating losses make it very difficult for her to accept the Klaassens genuine care and concern, because shes sure nobody can love the likes of her. But with prayer, time and love, the familyincluding the young and handsome Adam Klaassenbegins to break through Samanthas walls. ColtonDixonfangirlAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5BEST BOOK EVER!!!December 28, 2013ColtonDixonfangirlAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is by far my favorite book. After reading just a few short chapters, I could hardly put it down. Samantha is a 17 year old girl who feels broken, and unloved. Adam is a 20 year old boy, who loves to work his parents' farm, and is the nicest person someone could be. These author developed the characters very well, and wrote beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Carolyn JohnsonGolden Valley, MNAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!March 3, 2012Carolyn JohnsonGolden Valley, MNAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a beautifully written, completely satisfying, and intensely inspirational book. I'd read only a couple of chapters when I didn't want to lay it down--I really wanted to know what happened to this very unfortunate young woman! The family she encounters in Mountain Lake in a most unusual manner is really delightful. Adam is a very loving, caring young man--a worthy example of a believer--who never lets us down, even when he is doing some suffering of his own. All the characters are memorable. This book provides a rich reading experience for anyone, not only for readers in Minnesota (as I am). I only wish I didn't have to wait until June for the next book in the trilogy! I'm so glad it's about Samantha's brother.
