Publisher's Description

In this eloquent account of her current struggle with physical pain, Joni Eareckson Tada offers her perspective on divine healing, God’s purposes, and what it means to live with joy.

Over four decades ago, a diving accident left Joni a quadriplegic. Today, she faces a new battle: unrelenting pain. The ongoing urgency of this season in her life has caused Joni to return to foundational questions about suffering and God’s will.

A Place of Healing is not an ivory-tower treatise on suffering. It’s an intimate look into the life of a mature woman of God. Whether readers are enduring physical pain, financial loss, or relational grief, Joni invites them to process their suffering with her. Together, they will navigate the distance between God’s magnificent yes and heartbreaking no—and find new hope for thriving in-between.

This wonderfully wise book on being and not being healed is vintage Joni – a true spiritual gem.” – J.I. Packer, Professor of Theology, Regent College

“To read Joni’s book, A Place of Healing, is like being engaged in a delightful personal conversation with her. She is honest, bubbly, Biblical, sagacious, and devoted to God and His truth. Joni shows us Jesus like few people can and encourages us in our response to Him regardless of our circumstances.” - R. C. Sproul, Chairman and President of Ligonier Ministries; Senior Minister of Saint Andrew’s

I am less likely to feel sorry for myself when the physical pain keeps me from doing things when I consider what she has been through in her life and yet she presses on.

Ms. Tada shares the grittiness of pain and ugliness that life can dish out sometimes. She is an authority on the subject of pain and suffering--she has been there, done that many times and prolonged times. Yet, she gives real hope and insight in the middle of it all.

As a Christian with family members in need of physical healing this book offered real food for thought. The conviction of Joni that our suffering has a purpose and sometimes is to encourage others more than ourselves truly moved my heart. After a read like this one I can continue in my prayer life believing that God is answering in ways I cannot imagine. When Joni tells how her suffering has brought others to Christ my heart is humbled and I move on knowing God is in this regardless of what I see before my eyes. It was an encouragement. To see her heart and dedication to bring others to Christ fuels my heart!
