Publisher's Description

Life can bring us to the end of everything, especially hope. When times are uncertain and overwhelming, it's easy to abandon God when it seems that He has abandoned us. In her debut novel, A New Promise, author Julie Eller brings you into the presence of an omniscient, omnipotent, and unconditionally loving God through the Parnell family's struggle to survive the multifaceted, devastating effects of Huntington's disease. As two adolescents endure the emptiness and pain from the absence of a dying mother, their father finds himself confronting God and returning to the blueprints of life, God's Word, His promises. You will find yourself pondering, ?If, under even remotely similar circumstances, would my faith remain in God, the Great Redeemer?? A New Promise exemplifies the truth of Proverbs 16: 9, ?We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps, with an assurance that ?His ways are higher than our ways, ? and that His ways are always best.

A NEW PROMISE is a novel filled with emotion, trials, love and and fulfillment of satisfaction knowing that God will take control if invited to. Julie Eller has outdone herself fulfilling every aspect of living with an onset of misgivings and trials in the scenario of a hurting family to a finality of love and understanding. Every page turned brought new aspirations and tears in the final control lost to the love of God.I was so intrigued by Julie's writing that I could not put the book down. Everyone should check out her new book.

The book was wonderful and so expressive. The insight Julie has into a teenager's world, the characters all so well defined, the scriptures and wisdom given when confronting a difficult situation and the evidence of God's grace, along with the smooth flow of words and descriptions of inner turmoil or overflowing joys of life...well, I don't know why we couldn't see this one on the best seller's list. Julie Eller is good at what she does. I look forward to reading more and hope to see her books in all the book store shelves!

Julie has done an incredible job in researching and knowing the subject well in regard to Huntington's disease. From the beginning, you are enraptured into this family's life, their struggles and their emotions. You can feel the anger and frustration in each family member as they go through the denial, anger, guilty feelings...all that you experience when you know death is around the corner. Rachel, the mother and wife is in a nursing home hooked up to a vent and basically is being kept alive. Physically, mentally and emotionally, she is already gone from this world but her husband Scott can't find himself to comply to her living will and let her go. The children, Tyler and Tawnya, each use different escapes in regard to what they are going through not having there mom around. The situation also brings Rachel's sister Celeste back into the picture. She's a successful business woman in Seattle and coming back to her roots is making her rethink her priorities in life. Julie brings these lives alive and keeps you rivited to each page until the end. I felt God working in each individual life as well as mine as read this book. I highly recommend it as I know, you will be challenged and changed for the better after reading it.

I will start by saying this, I am not much of a fiction reader, but the amazing talent of Julie Eller captured me within moments. God has truly gifted her with an amazing talent. Those that I have recommended the book to have also said the exact same thing; they could not put the book down. So if you enjoy fiction, you're going to LOVE "A New Promise."
