Left with few choices, Abigail takes him up on his offer and moves to Missouri after his death, but just as the family learns to accept her, the real Jeremiah Calhoun appears puzzled to find a confounding woman posing as his wife. Jeremiah is determined to have his life back to how it was before the war, but his own wounds limit what he can do on his own. Still not fully convinced Abigail isn't duping him, he's left with no choice but to let the woman stay and help--not admitting to himself she may provide the healing his entire family needs.

But Jeremiah Calhoun Is Very Handsome, Very Alive, and Very Perplexed.
Most Inconvenient Indeed.
With few options of her own, nurse Abigail Stuart agrees to marry her patient, a gravely wounded soldier calling himself Jeremiah Calhoun. They arrange a quick ceremony before he dies, giving Abigail the rights to his Ozark farm and giving Jeremiah the peace of knowing someone will care for his ailing sister after he's gone--a practical solution for both of them.
After the war, Abigail fulfills her side of the bargain--until the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up, injured but definitely alive, and wastes no time in challenging Abigail's story. Abigail is flummoxed. After months of claiming to be his widow, how can she explain that she's never seen this Jeremiah Calhoun before? How can she convince him that she isn't trying to steal his farm? And will she find a way to stay, even though this practical arrangement has turned into a most inconvenient marriage?
Mrs ARS5 Stars Out Of 5I Inconveniently Could Not Put This DownFebruary 21, 2015Mrs ARSQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A Most Inconvenient Marriage by Regina Jennings was such a fun read, I read it in less than 24 hours. I could not put this book down. Taking place right after the Civil War, Nurse Abigail Stuart gives in to a dying soldiers request and marries him. Jeremiah Calhoun was her late husbands name and his main concern was for his sister Rachel to be taken care of. In the bargain Abigail would receive the rights to his farm. Being driven from her own family, Abigail quickly makes her way to the Ozark farm and sets up house with her mother -in-law and Rachel, her sister-in-law. Just to make things interesting, she must also confront Jeremiahs fianc, Laurel, and let her know that he loved Laurel till the end. But marrying Abigail was for the best for his ailing sister. Their lives begin to settle into a new pattern until the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up back home. Injured himself, he is bound and determined not to let this woman into his life and he wants to pick things back up with his fianc Laurel. This story delivers a delightful tale of antics, a slow burn love, danger, and the companionship of friends and neighbors. Not to mention the mystery of whom Abigail actually married if it was not Jeremiah Calhoun. I highly recommend this one by Regina Jennings and it is going on my keeper shelf. I received my copy from The Book Club Network, Inc. for an honest review and the opinions are my own.

Abigail and Jeremiah are strong characters, believable, flawed, and likable. I truly wanted these two hurting people to find happiness with each other. And the humor! The incidents with the skunks and the pie doughwell, you just have to read them yourself! I loved this story and highly recommend it.
CritterMom5 Stars Out Of 5A Great Read!February 5, 2015CritterMomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Abigail Stuart was never expecting this! When she married that dying soldier, she thought he was Jeremiah Calhoun and she going to care for his mother and sister on their horse farm. But it turns out the REAL Jeremiah is very much alive; and very confused at this beautiful stranger who claims to be his wife and is taking over his land. But the description and personality of the dying man is so exactly opposite of the Jeremiah Abigail is now getting acquainted with. Set against the back drop of the end of the Civil War, Abigail finds her heart slowly beginning to fall for this man, his family and the life she will never be able to claim as her own.
Abigail is a nurse in the prison of the Union army and cares for the Confederate soldiers who are wounded. She becomes acquainted to a young confederate who goes by the name Romeo. He goes on and on about his Juliet. When it becomes apparent that he will die, he convinces Abigail to marry him and care for his sister, mother and there horse farm. When Abigail arrives, she finds a grouchy young lady and a grieving mother. While Mrs. Calhoun readily accepts her, Rachel would not. When the real Jeremiah comes home, he gets the shock of his life! Why is this beautiful young lady trying to scam him out of his home? He cant do much with his bum leg. But he can let Abigail know how much he dislikes her presents. But his heart is really having trouble keeping Abigail at arms length; especially when she is invading his space, trying to help him walk again.
I thought this story was amazing! The story and plot were phenomenal! I think I finished this story in less than a day! The characters of Abigail and Jeremiah are so relatable. I laughed and cried right along with them! I will give this story a five star! Well done Mrs. Jennings!

TellNJasmineMontanaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Regina Jennings best yet!January 24, 2015TellNJasmineMontanaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5If there's one thing Regina Jennings does well it's romantic comedy with spiritual and life lessons. A Most Inconvenient Marriage fits that to a 'T'. There are some very poignant moments that cause the reader to pause for reflection amidst the humor.
I really can't remember which Regina Jennings book I read first but I have certainly enjoyed each succeeding one, A Most Inconvenient Marriage was no exception. In fact, I think it just might be my favorite yet.
The characters in A Most Inconvenient Marriage are varied, flawed, quirky, and fun. Well, fun except for some not-so-nice guys that liven up the lives of our hero and heroine.
Regina Jennings has such a way of pulling the reader into the lives of her characters. I ran the gamut of emotions with Abigail and Jeremiah. Jeremiah's suspicions of Abigail's motives and character really got my dander up a few times.
One must not forget the neighbor kids, Josiah and Betsy, those two are just hysterical! You could just about base a series off of them and their antics.
One of the neatest things about this book is the wonderful cover. It really matches the story and I just love it! The Bethany team has outdone themselves yet again.
A Most Inconvenient Marriage is a definite winner from Regina Jennings! Don't miss it!

LETHERChesapeake, VAAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A Great BookJanuary 18, 2015LETHERChesapeake, VAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleI enjoyed reading A Most Inconvenient Marriage. Abigail is an awesome and loyal character. She honored her commitment regardless of the unexpected. She didnt allow the unkind treatment she sometimes experienced get in the way of doing her job. I also appreciate the fact that Jeremiah was concerned and dedicated to protecting his family even though he faced challenges of his own. The strong family bond was an inspiration. True love was demonstrated and it was refreshing to see all involved followed their hearts and the outcome was complete happiness. Thanks Bethany House for the opportunity to read a fantastic book free of charge.
