So many of us go through life living the mantra, "If you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours." We spend our days expecting others to give to us just as much (if not more) than what we're willing to give. But God calls us to a greater level of generosity. The example of his Son shows us that he was willing to give us what none of us deserved. That is the true example of generosity.
A Generous Life invites us to examine our own hearts and lives in light of this ever-giving God. Through stories and scripture, Kevin Stirratt will help readers understand how they can be more generous in their everyday lives--in their marriage or parenting, friendships and working relationships, their own church community, and around the world.
So many of us go through life with the mantra, 'If you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.' But God calls us to something greater. A Generous Life invites us to examine our own hearts and lives in light of this ever-giving God. Rather than being concerned about what's 'fair' in our world, we will be reminded that we are created in the image of a God who gives generously, and that we are capable of living a life where we can extend grace to others as we turn the other cheek, walk the extra mile, or forgive seventy times seven times.
A Generous Life is a timely and helpful book that calls us to a fresh understanding of generosity as a way of life. We find a clear and positive call to shift from a life of reciprocity to a life of generosity that touches all of life (marriage, parenting, worship and the world at large) not just our finances. I recommend this book enthusiastically! -Dr. John Bowling, President Olivet Nazarene University
Biblical, practical and so very timely, Kevin offers fresh insights with passion and creativity. -Dr. Keith Newman, Executive Vice President, Indiana Wesleyan University
A delightful book which takes us on a journey, exploring our attitude of generosity in all avenues of life and very specifically in the area of personal relationships. This is a timely and well-written message to those of us living in a 'me' driven world. May God help us to develop His spirit of generosity in all things. -Carla Sunburg, Pastor of Evangelism, Grace Point Church of the Nazarene
