Tell us a little about yourself. I live in northern California with my husband, three, children, an antisocial cat, and an overly social yellow lab. I work on-call as a hospital pharmacist and teach Sunday school and women's Bible studies. A Distant Melody is my first novel.
What was your motivation behind this project? The premise for this story rose from a "what if" question raised in another project I was working on - which only worked in a historical setting. I watched a History Channel special on the US Eighth Air Force based in England during World War II, and I was impressed with what those men endured for our freedom. Since my great-uncle flew a B-17 bomber with the Eighth Air Force, I had access to his stories and letters - and I had my link.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope readers will gain an appreciation for what people went through during World War II, both in combat and on the Home Front. I also hope they'll learn from my characters' mistakes - to understand the importance of honesty and of obeying the Lord. And I hope young women will realize you don't have to be beautiful to find true love.
