Author Bio

MILDRED COLVIN is a native Missourian with three children, one son-in-law, and two grandchildren. She and her husband spent most of their married life providing a home for foster children but now enjoy baby-sitting the grandchildren. Mildred writes inspirational romance novels because in them the truth of God's presence, even in the midst of trouble, can be portrayed. Her desire is to continue writing stories that uplift and encourage.
MARY DAVIS is a full-time fiction writer who enjoys going into schools and talking to kids about writing. Mary lives near Colorado's Rocky Mountains with her husband, three children, and six pets.

Gina Welborn worked in news radio writing copy until she took up writing romances. As a member of RWA and ACFW, she’s an active contest judge and coordinator. This Oklahoma-raised girl now lives in Richmond, Virginia, with her youth-pastor husband, their five Okie-Hokie children, and a Sharpador Retriever who doesn’t retrieve much of anything.

Editorial Reviews

This was an uplifting and, ultimately, joyful series of holiday stories. The setting and time period are reminiscent of the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Gotta love those lumberjacks. The stories are interconnected and it's wonderful to stay in touch with characters from the previous stories. The men and women in this book are real. They have failings, make mistakes and lose sight of God's will. There's sorrow and regret along the way. What stays with you, however, is the overriding love for each other and for God. These are charming, inspiring and, at times, powerful love stories. It may have been near 100 degrees outside while I read this book but in my heart it was Christmas.

One of the things I enjoyed about this collection is that we get to know the supporting cast throughout all the novellas. Various townspeople drift in and out of the tales, and the previous couples continue to grace later stories with cameo appearances. I’ve also lived in or near logging communities for much of my adult life, so seeing some of the history of this resource in nearby Washington state was interesting to me. If you’re in the mood for a little early Christmas (and by early I mean both early in the season and early in the history of the American west) check out A Cascades Christmas.
