For their latest recording, Jars of Clay took inspiration from old traditional hymns and biblical texts, creating a moving album of modernized worship and gospel songs in a bluesy country contemporary setting. Redemption Songs features guest appearances from Sarah Kelly and the Blind Boys of Alabama, and includes songs "I'll Fly Away", "Nothing But the Blood", "I Need Thee Every Hour", and more.

I don't like modern Christian music much at all but this CD was really good. I got it for one song and now I really like the whole thing except for two songs which I normally really like (Nothing But The Blood, It Is Well With My Soul) only they did a poor job on these two.

I love this CD! Although you will still recognize the familiar hymns and gospel songs, they have been kicked up a notch or two. When I listen to REDEMPTION SONGS I want to tap my toes or get up and dance! The style is not strictly "bluesy country"...there is some rock 'n roll in the mix. Very 21st Century but still very Christ honoring. I give Jars of Clay and friends an A plus!

Jars of Clay has us hooked. Their music touches our hearts deeply, time after time. This is the 4th CD of "Redemption Songs" we have purchased. The 1st cd was lent out then never returned. The 2nd was purchased to replace the first. We purchased a 3rd cd for the car, that cd seems to have made a road trip to our hometown, never to make it back again. The 4th was purchased today to replace the one I gave to my sister. When we got home today we were trying to decide whether or not to bring the cd from the car into the house for a listen, we're thinking about just getting a 5th cd to take care of that. Each purchase is worth every penny. "Redemption Songs" has been a blessing to us and to the many others we have shared it with as well. Thank YOU - GOD. And thank you Jars of Clay. You keep recording, we'll keep listening.

The Redemption Songs CD is indeed awesome and worth listening over and over again. I take the CD with me to work, on the way to church, and when I am driving my kids around on weekends. The very first 2 songs that I heard and attracted me most (when I was at Timeless Treasure Christian Music Store), was "God Be Merciful To Me" and "O Come and Mourn With Me Awhile". I just loved the lyrics of these songs. I am blessed to have this CD on that day at the store because there was only 1 CD left. To Jars of Clay band, Congratulations to your God-given talent.

I have listened to this cd over and over and I seem to always love it. My mother had I'll Fly Away played at her funeral so I had to buy this. This is the first spring that I have not been down about her passing on. I too someday hope to fly away. I had to get used to some of the songs. Some songs remind me of my childhood church camp, good memories!! God Bless!

I went to a concert with Jars of Clay and a few other groups and they played songs from this cd which I hadn't heard them do before. I was dissapointed at the time because I wasn't familar with the songs. I purchased the cd at the concert and started listening to it and now just love it. I love the old time hymns done in a new way. The messages are great and the way they put them to music now is awesome. I especially love the song Lift your Head. They have been a great encouragement. Keep up the great work guys!
