Beauty Will Rise CD

The Chapmans were in China on May 12th 2008 when a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit the Sichuan province, a mountainous region in the western portion of the country. They were wrapping up a 4 week trip and in the Shanghai airport hundreds of miles away on the other side of the country headed home to celebrate Maria Sue Chapman’s 5th birthday. They didn’t even feel the quake.

Aware of the disaster through phone contact, there at the airport the Chapman family and team instantly began praying for those they knew and those they had never met there. Sadly, just days later, they experience their own earthquake, the loss of little Maria.

Steven has often remarked in these past months that, “The Chapmans are likely the most prayed for, supported, and loved family in the world.” Within weeks of the tragedy on May 21 2008, Steven was beginning to talk about going to the earthquake zone to serve however he could and to proclaim the comfort and hope that was sustaining his family through the pain of their loss, to those in China who had also suffered their own loss of a Chinese daughter or son in the disaster.

In July 2009, the Chapman family returned to China and participated in ShowHOPE’s grand opening of a special needs orphan care facility named Maria’s Big House of Hope in honor of their daughter. Steven was privileged to do a concert in the affected area and participate in relief work efforts there on the ground. The photo on the cover of Beauty Will Rise was captured while Steven was in the earthquake zone. Behind him is a portion of the ruins that the quake’s massive and deadly landslides left behind. And yet… in the earthquake in China, in the ‘earthquake’ in his own life, and those in others lives, Steven believes that Beauty Will Rise.

The case was cracked when it came in the mail. The Beauty Will Rise cd is very emotional, I recomend it for anyone who has lost someone close or for a gift to someone who has. I think it is true what I heard about this cd that it is full of raw emotion. Very good, it is awesome that a daddy could write and perform such music going thru what Steven Curtis Chapman has gone thru in the last few months.

I have not lost a child only a love that was deep, God has healed me and through the devastion He has revealed himself to me in numerous ways. I have to say when I heard "See" I cried out no I bellowed at the top of my lungs knowing that little Maria is heaven and God sent your family the sign of the picture with SEE. I know it was God that sent that to comfort you, thank you for writing the song to comfort me and many others. You are in my prayers and this truly is a CD that shows Beauty will Rise even in pain. THANK YOU!!

This is the best of Steven Curtis Chapman's works. It is full of the Truth that God is totally present in our deepest, darkest moments and that Heaven is our Home. I can already see the Beauty that is coming from the ashes. Thank you, Chapmans, for the testimony.

Our little boy Robbie was ushered into heaven back in 1987 at Johns Hopkins Hosp in Baltimore, MD and we struggled with the pain and hurt. But 1 year later God gave us a precious little girl named JoyAnna and the beauty from ashes was born. These songs speak volumes of Biblical truth to encourage the hurting souls of many. Chapman senses the need to share his conviction through music that GOD can meet needs if we trust Him. This may be Steve's best CD of all. Thanks for singing to inspire not to just inform.

We lost our son Cory on 4-27-08 due to MD very unexpectanly. We felt your pain when we heard the news of their death just days after our son. We love all the new songs and can't wait to buy the new release on Nov 3. We haved prayed for you and need these songs.
