Author: Kim Wier Located in: Nacogdoches, TX Submitted: September 16, 2004 What was your motivation behind this project? Like many Christian families, Pam and I have
really struggle with the "right" way to handle
Halloween. Though we loved it when we were
children we were concerned with all the supposed
ties to the occult that were being publicized.
Our goal was to make choices that were first and
foremost honoring to God and second beneficial
for our children. In the process, we have tried
everthing from running from the holiday to
embracing it for outreach. It wasn't until we
stopped long enough to discover the real roots of
the holiday that we found real freedom in our
celebration. We hope that those who read this
book will discover that they too can celebrate
without selling out by honoring the remarkable
historical traditions of Halloween that have
their roots deep in the gospel of the Christian
church. We don't have to be scared of this
holiday when we celebrate it as our spiritual
fathers intended: As a day to honor those who
gave so much to defend the faith.
For those who are interested in truth instead of
myths, they will enjoy a brief and factual look
back at the beginnings of this holiday, ispiring
stories of faith heros who are at the heart of
Halloween and 15 original ideas that help
families celeberate according to that tradition.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: You don't have to settle for
Halloween "alternatives" this year. You can help
your children grow in their faith, have fun, and
reach out to others will a clear conscience
before the Lord. Read and decide for yourself if
you want to begin the process of Redeeming
Halloween. It will be a lasting legacy for your
family.
