This is truly one of the great albums released in the past few years. For this project, Derek has the inspiration of the awesome topic of God's church, which has been largely unplumbed by CCM. How often do you find eight songs you think are wonderful on a single CD? Among my favorites are "Nobody Loves Me," "Wedding Dress," "Beloved," and "Crooked Deep Down." What a variety is contained in these songs! The crowning achievement, though, is the bold truth and beauty of the last track, "The Church." Thank you, Derek, for your artistic, God-centered and uplifting work.

Coming from one of the foremost Christian thinkers in the music industry today, this album is not a passive listen - the lyrics inspire (and require) thought, and lead to a deeper understanding of the church's relation to Christ. That said, the musical side of the songwriting is enjoyable. Some songs are clearly inspired by Bob Dylan who may not be the style of some, but there is a lot of variety as well, and I think just about anyone willing to give this album a chance will be glad they did. This is Christian music at its finest (that I've found), a refreshing work among all the repetitive and nearly thoughtless songs most popular on Christian radio nowadays.

To be honest, I am disappointed in this CD. My favorite songs by Caedmon's Call were songs written and sung by Derek but in my opinion there is only one song worth the money on this CD, "Wedding Dress". I recommend that you wait for his next CD.

WOW! This CD is incredible! The first time I listened to it in the car I had to pull off the road and weep. I was especially moved by the song "Beloved". Derek paints a wonderful and Biblical picture of Christ's love and concern for His Bride and it really made me think about how I view the Church. I had to repent of attitudes and hard-heartedness. Please buy this CD,get alone with the lyrics in hand and immerse yourself in it. Thank you Derek!

Derek Webb has a knack for writing thought-provoking songs that have such truth and relevance to us as the Church. I really recommend this cd!

Derek Webb paints a clear picture of our unfaithfulness, and God's redeeming love towards His church.
