After a series of significant losses (home, career, long-term friends that just weren't, church family) in a brief period of time and the sense of belonging that goes with all of that, I read this book and found solace in the realization that my feelings of invisibility were not life-threatening. Feeling adrift and alone, the comfort in this book has sustained me for the journey of rebuilding that has evolved.

I've read other books on broken world people and this was by far the best book I have ever read. I would highly recommend this book to others. We think we are the only person who has gone through what we're going through until we read about someone else just like us. Lastly, not everyone is a super-christian, there are some of us who just haven't made it yet and Gordon MacDonald has helped me to realize that.
