Playing and touring together since the fall of 1998, brothers Mike and Jay Weaver and college-town friends Jeremy Redmon, Jeff Jones and Joe Shirk comprise Big Daddy Weave. Their contagious passion for ministry is the core of this group, but their unique sound keeps them from being another run-of-the-mill new artist. Combining a range of styles that have them often compared to mainstream favorite Dave Matthews Band or Christian pop mainstay Steven Curtis Chapman, their music has been described as acoustic pop/rock with a twist.
On One And Only, their debut project, both their sound and their focus are honed by performer, songwriter and now producer Jeromy Deibler of FFH ®. The indubitable force of the band is not the fluff and glitter of a packaged image, but instead the faith of these young men, and the revelation of that through their music. In fact, image is something that Big Daddy Weave hopes to portray in a new light.

I normally write reviews of Christian books, not of Christian music. This new group however, has gained my attention and my admiration. Recently while visiting Louisville, KY and listening to CD demos in a bookstore, I tried this one. I immediately tried to buy a new copy for myself, but learned the store was sold out!
Christian music with a good sound is easy to find, but Christian music with a good sound AND a strong, Scriptural message is very rare. The lyrics of these songs, all written by Mike Weaver, are what impress me most. The track "In Christ" comes straight from Philippians 4:13. "Friend Like You" speaks of God's providence and grace. "One and Only" reminds me of Psalm 139. "Being in Love with You" speaks most deeply to Christian workers like me who constantly are tempted to place the work of the Lord ahead of the Lord of the work. The Scriptural basis of this track is Jesus' visit to the home of Martha and Mary.
If this group continues its present course, I wouldn't be surprised to see a ministry emerge with the diversity of a Steven Curtis Chapman and the depth of a Twila Paris. Don't let the group's unique name discourage you -- this CD is one to own!

I love this cd. I wasn't sure what new cd to get and when I listened to it at the store, I knew this is the one I wanted. It's awesome. All of their songs are upbeat and have great lyrics.

This is an Excellent album. It's a little bit on the modern worship side but I really enjoy it. If you like Salvador, Newsong, Steven Curtis Chapman, Sonicflood, Jeff Deyo, & Mercy Me. Then Checkout Big Daddy Weave. This group knows how to glorify the Lord.

Hm, so much to say. Odd name. If you like the new Dave Matthews Band sound, then this cd is for you. They did a good job at capturing that sound. I love the fact that their lyrics are trully God centered unlike other "Christian" bands that don't even talk about God. I don't like the album, because I love old Dave Matthews, but this is a great alternative for those who enjoy the new DMB and other contemporary Christian artists. I would have given them a 4.9 if it were possible.

When I heard that the band Big Daddy Weave was coming to a local festival, I said to myself, "What a wierd name for a band." Although I was turned away by their strange name at first, their music was awesome. I was delighted that I could have such great seats for such an incredible band. If you have never heard of this band, I encourage you to pick up a copy of the cd and give them a chance. You will not be disappointed. You will be pleasantly suprised.
