All your favorite Horse Stories, by Newbery Award-winning author Marguerite Henry! Misty of Chincoteague, the newborn foal who is befriended - and beloved - by two children; Stormy, Misty's Foal, who struggles for life during a raging storm; Brighty of the Grand Canyon, the little burro who blazed trails and met famous people - they're all here. And my favorite: King of the Wind.
I remember reading this book on the beach at my grandmother's New Jersey summer home. The warm sand, the pleasant breezes, and the sound of the waves transported me to an Arabian setting with Agba the stable hand and Sham, the gorgeous Arabian bay. As one of the six best horses in the stable, he was sent to France as a gift to the boy king Louis XV. By the time the horses reached France, however, they were worn from the hard trip at sea, and skinny from lack of enough food. What would the king think of such a poor little group of scraggly horses?
