Christ-centered preaching from the Old Testament has been largely overlooked by contemporary scholars, but Greidanus's landmark study remedies this situation. Emphasizing the necessity of preaching Christ from the Old Testament, Greidanus traces the history of Christological preaching; interacts with contemporary hermeneutical discussions; and offers concrete steps to help you move from Old Testament text to Christian sermon. 365 pages, softcover from Eerdmans.

This is indeed a landmark book. As a former member of Tenth Presbyterian Church who was blessed by the teaching of the late Dr. James Boice, I know solid Christian messages. This book is not just for preachers--every Christian must read it. If you want to understand the Bible and how God, "in these last day has spoken to us in His Son," Jesus Christ, you must read this book. Professor Greidanus is correct when he asserts that in Preaching the Old Testament you must preach Christ. There is no Christian preaching of the Old Testament apart from correctly relating the message back to the revelation of Christ's redemptive work in history and the New Testaments’ explanation of the redeeming work of God in Christ Jesus.

Great resource. Sidney breaks down even the mis- perceptions and how Christ is misused in multiple ways within the Old Testament. A must have for preaching Christ from the Old Testament.
