Excellent basic grammer using the best BOOK available! The entire series covers everything a student needs to know without belaboring the learner. The books do not have distracting entertainment, just good solid grammer study.

We have home schooled for many years, and we are pleased to be using this curriculum for our jr. high children. The straight forward teaching (doesn't have distracting "cartoons" in it!) is much appreciated, and the fact that it uses the Scriptures to illustrate and teach the grammatical principles was exactly what we were looking for. Hope this will be a blessing to you!

I am an English teacher in a language school in Poland. At our school we use quality English teaching as a way of meeting needs in the community, building relationships and sharing our faith. We use standard materials for teaching English that are based on up-to-date research on teaching and which try to stimulate learning by using listening, speaking, writing and reading. Since our materials are not Bible-based, I bought this book hoping that it would give me some ideas for incorporating Biblical texts into my course. Students enjoy discussions on relevant topics and are facing real challenges in their lives in this rapidly changing country. I wanted material which I could use to stimulate discussion on relevant topics. New vocabulary and grammar structures in a natural context stay in people's minds when they are engaged by the material. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with this book. First of all, it does not utilize any ideas from current teaching techniques; there is no use of the communicative approach and very little room for learning by discovery. I was especially let down by exercises in the first chapter "Learning About Nouns" which sound like this: List ten persons found in the Bible, List ten places found in the Bible, List ten ideas suggested by Biblical stories. Other chapters are similar. The layout of the book is bland. There is only one font and no colors. Students today are very demanding when it comes to their textbooks. They want to interact with their books and come to grips with the material. Learning tenses must involve examples and practice real-life interaction. If you are looking for a book to use with students learning English as a foreign language, this is probably not the right book. If you want to examine the English grammar of various Biblical passages, you might find what you are looking for in this book.
