I bought the book because I knew discipline was sadly lacking in my life and was the single biggest spiritual hindrance. I had grown to respect Elliot's work and felt she would not mess around with me. I was surprised to find in this book that she really seems to have a dual objective: 1) to deal with the subject matter of discipline which she does effectively and 2) to defend the Catholic church.
