Decrying much of contemporary worship as entertainment, Tozer says, "When we are worshipping...if the love of God is in us and the Spirit of God is breathing praise within us, all the musical instruments in heaven are suddenly playing in full support." Originally preached as sermons at Avenue Road Alliance Church in Toronto, the chapters of Whatever Happened to Worship convey Tozer's attitude and thoughts on Christian worship.

Wonderful insight into one of the main problems of conservative churches. Unfortunately, the problem seems to exist today in much the same manner as it did back when Tozer preached these sermons. A great read for church leaders trying to lead and shepherd a congregation.

One of A W Tozer's best. Beautifully shows that the desire of God's Father Heart is for a real and loving relationship with His children. He is not looking for perfection in us but a 'Perfect Heart" toward Him.

As the noted on the back cover the book was originally preached as sermons. He gives stories but not much academic information for the reasons for the "Whatever happened to worship". He gives some good words of wisdom as to the reasons for lack of worship today; but not as much as I had hoped. A good book for the lay person, but not very useful if one needs academic information for graduate study.
