This basic primer on the interface between gospel and culture highlights the contrast between presentation evangelism and participation evangelism. It helps Christians navigate between the twin pitfalls of syncretism (being so culturally relevant that you lose your message) and sectarianism (being so culturally irrelevant that you lose your mission). Included are interviews with those who have crossed cultural barriers, such as a television producer, exotic dancer, tattoo studio owner and band manager. The appendix represents eight portals into the future: population, family, health/medicene, creating, learning, sexuality and religion.
Reformation is the continual reforming of the mission of the church to enhance Gods command to reach out to others in a way that acknowledges the unique times and locations of daily life.

Excellent, intriguing and thought-provoking. And true to Scripture. The sub-title, "Reaching out without selling out", says it all. Highly recommended for all, especially pastors.

This is a FANTASTIC book. Realize that the culture is changing around you? Church growth methods outdated? Last seminar you went to more of the same ole same ole? Then Driscoll's book will remind you of the gospel and get you thinking about being a reformissionary... Excellent!

Excellent read... whether intentional or not, this book is easily a youth pastor's handbook for reaching out in current culture. A solid challenge to think out of the box. Overall, it will benefit all readers in some way, shape or form.

Very good book. well written and very funny. Mark has a way with words that makes you think as well laugh many times. He is the 1st guy I heard who balances orthodox Christianity with how young people think about life today.
