With many twists and turns in this book you were continually surprised. True to the title of this book, the author brought forth the ideal that not only is confession good for the soul, but that the truth does indeed set you free! Many characters added to the drama and won your heart as well. I will pass this one on, but not before I take one last look just to see what I might have missed the first time, the plots were that good.

Robert Whitlow is one of my go to authors and The Confession is evidence why. A legal thriller that will hold the readers interest from page one - a car wreck with a dead teen and his friend. But the story takes place ten years later as the surviving teen is beginning to build his career and (hopefully) a family.

But as many must learn, the past can not be hidden and the truth will come out. Whether in a car wreck or at the scene of a gunshot, lives are inevitably changed. And when the truth is revealed it will Grace and Mercy to move into the next phase of life. Many years ago I heard a couple of simple definitions of Grace and Mercy:

Grace is getting what we dont deserve.

Mercy is not getting what we do deserve.

Holt Douglas, a relative new assistant DA, and his new friends, Greg and Valerie Stevens, would need to learn the meaning of those words - both from God and from each other. And they do.

I hope that the author is not done with these characters - there is still life in a community with some borderline corrupt politicians and lawmen, and a new lawyer with little allegiance to the existing power brokers in town. Life is not done for a new believer, with a new job, and a new wife - a life I would like to read more about. But even if this is the only story with these characters, the book is worth the time spent reading it over the past week. It was for me, I expect it will be for others as well.

I have been a fan of Robert Whitlow for some time, and I found The Confession to be honest, gritty, and real. It's a story about redemption that comes about in a way that is totally unexpected. There are enough plot twists to raise the eyebrows, and some twists in the story line that give you moments of gasp. While there is a romance involved, it doesn't turn out the way you would think, with the "walking into the sunset together." Loved it.

Robert Whitlow is a great story teller who writes from a Christian point of view. I enjoyed this book right up until the end which seemed a little abrupt. The characters were well-written and likeable. The moral is obviously about confession. It involves a childhood transgression and how the lack of confession effected his life. This is definitely a book worth reading.

Robert Whitlow did it again! I love legal thrillers and courtroom drams for some reason. This book has some of that but a whole lot more.

It teaches about guilt and forgiveness. These are two areas people need help in today and so this book is very timely. It is a fiction book that you will enjoy and speak to your heart at the same time. I couldn't put it down; it is a real page turner. Also, for the ladies, there is romance. Holt has two girls attention. Who will he choose if either? And will his past come back to haunt him?

He has to make something right in his past in order to do something right in his present and how will that affect his future.

When Holt's best friend Calico dies in a car accident, Holt decides to live out his friend's dreams in his own life. He sets out to be a lawyer and be the kind of lawyer that would make Calico proud.

In the end, he will make all of us proud. It is a story of tragedy, grace, love, forgiveness, redemption, and more. You will like it.

I was given this book by BookSneeze as part of the blogger program. I was not required to give a positive view.
