Hosea 6 declares, "Come, let us return to the LORD ... let us press on to know the LORD ... And He will come to us like the rain." This Scripture captures the essence of Downpour, a clarion call by Pastor James MacDonald to personal revival. Using the examples of revival both in the Bible as well as in history, this book offers a clear and simple road map back to God. If you're unhappy with your spiritual life, if your love for God has grown cold, or if your desire to put Him first needs rekindling, Downpour can help you experience an absolute soaking of God's Spirit and bring about a biblical, joyful, and radical revival in your life!

This book is a powerful catalyst to having sincere, lasting personal revival. I have been a Christian many years but this book opened my eyes to God's character and true repentance. I did not know how thirsty I was until I received Downpour.

This book was very convicting it brought forth a lot of issues about sin I had thought I had already dealt with. It is true what James McDondald says in the beginning, if your truly not seeking revival this book will only irritate you but if you are truly seeking revival then this book is for you.

Hosea 6:1-3, from which the title is taken, is interpreted as if they were God's promises when in context the verses are Israel's poetic but presumptuous and unrepentant response to God's call to repentance in Hosea 5. Col 2:6 is stretched to fit a premise that the context and several translations would not support. Things got better in Chapter 2, but was derivative of Philip's "Your God is Too Small" and Bonhoeffer's "Cost of Discipleship". Chapter 3 seemed like you were back reading the discourses of Job's friends. Maybe some pearls are in Downpour, but it is a frustrating read once you realize that you can't trust your guide's use of scripture.
