On page 6 of "LEADING THE TEAM BASED CHURCH" Cladis writes: "In a circle we can all see each other. No one is left out. We are all interconnected. We hold each other up." Memories from childhood kept coming to my mind. As a young boy walking home from Catholic school I passed a Jewish Temple. I would spend hours jumping from the outer platform to a tree branch. Often I heard music playing - delightful, joyfully bombastic music to the ears of a kid who just got off his knees, telling God how awful he was for committing sins at 7-8 years old. Yikes! I peeked in the windows. People were full of joy, doing what I perceptively called CELEBRATING LIFE. Gorgeous fruit on the tables, family members dancing 'loudly' in a huge circle. From Grandpa to the babies, holding hands, dancing in celebration of the maturation process of Jewish teens. I then realized that I often walked with a dark, even broken spirit. Yes, 'peeking in' brought the concept of dancing ALL together in a circle to a spiritual experience in my spirit. It was a God thing. At age 67 I named my senior ministry "A Celebration of Life." I insisted on a circle dance at our first meeting. They left their seats at the round tables [not everyone liked this touch of celebration - too bad]. Recently I met George Cladis at Liberty Church. After a brief 'HI!' I told him "I read your book and I am watching you." He probably thought I was a critic. He couldn't know that his concept of dancing together in circles spoke so deeply to the spirit of a young city kid's future vision. Cladis sees a collective community of individuals holding hands daily, dancing with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit "Where we can see each other [can this be really spiritual or what?]and Nobody is left out." At Liberty Church Cladis is the concept-developer. I pray for the trickle down effect of his vision. May God truly bless his vision and his ministry. I'll keep watching.
